1976 Triumph TR-6

Triumph TR-6 (1976)

Price: US $0.99

Description:

The Triumph TR6 represents the last of the in-line six cylinder British sports cars. The smooth power and low end torque of the TR6's engine, married to the Karmann designed body and the supple fully independent suspension made the TR6 truly the last of it's breed. TR6's have enjoyed a great deal of desirability ever since they were first introduced in 1969 and continue to increase in value. Here are the chaps from Top Gear to explain why:
The Blokiest Blokes Car Ever Built
The wonderful example in this auction has been in the care of Speedwell since 2008. It is solid and straight, runs beautifully and handles very crisply. Though this car's exterior paint is not perfect, it shines beautifully and, as you will see, is very presentable with very few flaws.
The car comes with a photo album depicting it's restoration which was done in 2001/2002, along with quite a few receipts. There is no evidence anywhere that this car has ever been in a serious shunt and the pictures in the album back that up. All rocker panels and fenders pass the magnet test with flying colors. Here is a video of that:
THE MAGNET TEST
The engine was rebuilt during the restoration and receipts are provided. While we have receipts dating back to 2000, we have no way of verifying that the mileage is accurate so the odometer reading may or may not be correct.
Over the past 7 years, Speedwell has inspected this car semi-annually and performed all of it's regular maintenance. We have also repaired or replaced everything we could find wrong mechanically including replacing all front suspension bushings, new differential mounts and gusseting the differential mounting brackets (Something that must be done on every TR6 but often is not) and a new brake master cylinder. We have installed a new top and helped the owner keep her in road ready condition.
Very recently, we replaced the windshield (had a chip), gasket and chrome trim. We took apart the distributor, cleaned and lubricated the advance mechanism and replaced the spark plugs, points and condenser. We adjusted the valves, installed a new VC gasket and checked the compression (All cylinders were within 5% of 165). We changed the oil and filter, installed a new water pump (wasn't leaking but impeller felt loose) and filled fresh coolant and distilled water. We also replaced the brake booster with a new one.We went through the carburetors to ensure all was well there, changing the floats, all rubber seals, diaphragms and needle/seats. We changed the rear control arm bushings and spring seat bushings. We removed the fuel tank and had Sims of Lawrenceville boil it out and seal it with Ethanol resistant sealer. Lastly, we found the left inner axle U-joint was bad and replaced that (lubed all the remaining U-joints).
Tires Plus installed a new set of 205/70HR15 H rated steel radials that ride very smoothly and are extremely responsive. The car starts right up, pulls strongly through all four gears, shifts effortlessly, steers smartly and stops perfectly. It really is quite fast and can achieve 80 mph with very little effort, while not exhibiting any unusual noises or displaying any unruly behavior.
The electrical system on this car is in excellent condition and all gauges, instruments and lighting work perfectly.
