The Triumph TR6 is a British six cylinder sports car and was the best-seller in the British Leyland TR range. The last TR6 rolled off the line in July of 1976. The Pimento Red 1974 car for sale here was completely restored in 2011. This was a frame off restoration with every nut and bolt replaced. This was a one owner car and comes complete with the dealer paperwork including the original window sticker. It was purchased on Long Island where it has spent the last 41 years. This car was restored to be enjoyed and driven. It's was not intended to a trailer queen. From all appearances this car looks like an original factory TR6. Although some interior modifications were made to enhance the overall appearance of the car. This car won a second place award at Brits by the Sea 2014 car show in the TR6 category.
The rust free body sits on a new RATCO frame. The frame was fabricated with all of RATCO's options; foam filled, powder coated, coil over rear shocks, front and rear anti roll bars. It rolls on Richard Good's CV axles in the rear, with adjustable trailing arm brackets, and Uncle Jack's up rated front axles. The ride height was lowered slightly on Richard Goods coil springs with SPAX adjustable shocks on the front end. It rides on new Michelin redlines with nice true original steel wheels and NOS aluminum trim rings, and NOS chrome lug nuts.
The engine was rebuilt by ACE crankshaft, a complete rebuild and balancing was performed and a GP2 cam was installed. All new pistons, rings and connecting rods. An aluminum flywheel and aluminum damper were installed as part of the engine mods. The head was rebuilt and shaved
.100 to increase compression. An aluminum water pump, pump housing, and radiator with electric fan were added for the cool effect. Nicely tuned triple DCOE Weber side drafts tie it all together. The car sounds awesome thanks to a custom stainless exhaust system.
The engine was mated to a W58 transmission with the HDVA conversion kit. This more than anything enhances the driving experience. Cruising at highway speed (70 mph) is enjoyable while the engine cranks at a relatively low 2600 rpm in overdrive.
As an added reliability feature, an Advance Auto Wire harness replaced the LUCAS original wire harness and the alternator was upgraded to handle any additional electrical load.
The fuel tank was replaced with a new aluminum tank and all fuel lines were replaced.
The interior was custom fabricated and replaced in its entirety, The seats were taken from a 1972 and offer a higher backed headrest than the original '74 seats offered. The gauges were restored by West Valley Instruments and the faces changed to Magnolia faces. The car has 54, 000 miles on the odometer. When purchased from the original owner the car had 47, 500 miles on the odometer.
The car comes with the original hardtop which was restored during the restoration and the original tonneau cover.
This is a completely restored TR6, the starting price is far below what the restoration costs were, You could not restore this car for what the starting price of this car is. My loss, your gain as they say.
