I am listing this car for a friend as he doesn’t use
Ebay. I have seen this car and drove it
this weekend, these pictures are from this weekend and I can put you in touch
directly with the owner if you want to speak to him directly.
1974 triumph TR6 – 52k original miles. This car was purchased in 2009 as a
retirement gift, the owner’s plan was to go through the car mechanically first
and then tackle any needed body work. However within a year of purchasing it and after completing most of the
mechanical work, there was a sickness in the family and the car has been in storage
for the last five years. The car runs
and drives, however would recommend trailering it home for a thorough tune-up
in lieu of driving it further than 50-100 miles.
The Good:
Below is all of the mechanical work that was completed
within the first year of ownership. To be
clear this car runs and drives (brakes squeak but that is probably due to
sitting), in 90 degree weather it did not run hot, and it starts right up. Work done:
· Head removed with new gaskets
· New valve springs & seals
· New thermostat
· New distributor
· New clutch
· New Red Line tires (balanced and alignment)
· New choke and throttle cables
· New brakes
· Tops in good shape and has the tonneau cover for
top down cruising
· Carpets in good shape
The OK:
· Original paint – looks great from 20 feet away, however there are a few places where the paint is flaking off
· There paint is cracking on some of the body
seams (typical for a car of this age with original paint)
· Under the door sills there is some cracking as
well, see photo
· The interior is in good shape with the exception
of the drivers seat, the cover should be re-stitched but again looks good from
10 feet and feel comfortable sitting in
· Tops in good shape and has the tonneau cover for
top down cruising
· Dash is in good shape with no cracks but should
be re-stained
· Suspension felt ok but would assume its original
Needed Work:
· Rear turn signals come on, don’t flash and the
fronts don’t do anything(my guess would be a relay)
· Left rear taillight is cracked
· Brakes squeal
· 1 of the backup lights is out
This is an original car and I would say is a drivers
car. Good for someone either looking for
a nice driver that’s mechanically sound and not too concerned with a pristine
body appearance, or for someone looking for a good base to start with and
complete the rest of the restoration with the body. It has been sitting in storage for 5 years
and the owner has put only a few miles on it since it was purchased and the
above work completed. Reason for the
sale is due to the progressed illness in the family, the owner will not be able
to complete what he started and wants it to go to someone who can either enjoy it
as is or finish it.
This car is being sold as is, with no warranty expressed or implied.
