1957 Triumph TR3 Smallmouth Roadster

Triumph TR3 Smallmouth Roadster (1957)
for sale

Price: US $1,000.00

Description:

For sale, a gorgeous 1957 TR3 Small Mouth Roadster. This car was fully restored (bare- metal, engine rebuild) in 1999-2000 out in California and comes with a binder full of over 100 detailed step-by-step photographs of the restoration. It also comes with a copy of the Standard Register original build sheet listing the original color (white) and original interior (black). At the time of the restoration, the odometer was either replaced or reset and now shows just over 9000 miles. The car comes with all the relevant pieces: hood, tonneau, folded hood cover, side curtains, original crank, and knock off lead hammer. All the leather pieces and side curtains are in excellent condition. The car also has a period optional overdrive unit installed in the dash, which works as intended. Everything works on the car, although the turn signals sometimes need a little help turning themselves off after a turn.
The paint has held up very well, as the car has always been garaged, and since I've owned it (June 2013), it has been under a dust cover when not in use. There is one very small dent in the left front fender (see pictures) that has been touched up. Otherwise, the paint has aged extraordinarily well, retaining a lovely shine. The interior is in excellent condition, as are the seats, the carpet, and the trunk. The car has a full spare and jack under the trunk. Two sets of keys.
When I received the car, it had been long enough since the restoration (13 years) that some mechanicals were beginning to need replacement. I have had the following work done to the car (all mechanical):
1) Replaced all fluids and filters2) Replaced the thermostat and several of the key hoses3) Rebuilt the left front brake caliber4) Replaced all the tie rod boots5) Replaced and aligned two of the four tires6) Rebuilt the carburetors and tuned the engine7) Replaced the brake Master Cylinder8) Replaced the Choke Cable assembly9) Upgraded the mechanical ignition to electronic ignition10) Replaced the starter motor11) Replaced the water pump.
The car is now mechanically sorted and runs well. The Smallmouth is the rarest of the TR3 line and highly sought after by collectors. It is rated a B by Sports Car Market Magazine for appreciation potential. The high sale of a TR3 Small Mouth in 2015 as reported by SCM was $42, 069. My reserve price is well below this.
The car is being sold without a warranty or any firm of guarantee. It is being sold as is/where is. Please ask any questions before bidding. Your bidding is considered a contract once the reserve price has been met. I will make the vehicle available for pre-examination as best I can. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Seller reserves the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally. Thanks & good luck bidding!
