1979 Super Beetle Convertible that I have owned for the past 20 years. It has been garage kept and well maintained. It was originally purchased from Catalano Motors on 11/12/79 with a build date of 9/79. I have the original warranty and maintenance book. It was originally air conditioned, but the air conditioning was no longer working and had to be removed to fit the dual carbs. I do however have all the pieces, including the compressor, hoses, switches, and condenser. It has a rebuilt 1776cc engine with dual Weber carbs, Empi heads, Engle cam, balanced crank, 1.5qt Scat sump, and Empi external oil cooler with fan. The trans. was also rebuilt with the Super Diff., heavy duty 3rd and 4th gear, with 4th gear being the freeway flyer. It has Bilstein rear shocks and front struts with Top Line 1in. drop coil springs, and the Empi strut tie-bar across the strut towers. All the front end bushings , shift rod bushing, and the shift coupler bushings were replaced with silicone ones. It has a larger front sway bar and the addition of a rear sway bar. It has an AM/FM/CD stereo with 2 8in. subwoofers and 2 horn tweeters inside a speaker box powered by a 140 watt amp. The top, pad, and headliner along with the rubber seals were also replaced. Right now the car is outfitted with a Grant chrome and wood rim steering wheel, a Scat dual T drag shifter, and mag wheels, but I do have all the original parts if you prefer the stock look.
