1970 VW Beetle Hot-Rod VOLKSROD Clean cool unique finished and daily drivable hot rod
I am listing my 1970 VW beetle/ volksrod. It has been completely modified/restored to a sweet looking, great driving, inexpensive “Hot Rod”
Starting with the chassis everything was purchased new or rebuilt. new pans, flipped re-indexed IRS trailing arms, Dbug41 beam extender, custom built frame head support bars, 2-1/2” dropped spindles, beam adjusters for a total front drop of 6 plus inches, quality u-joint/ welded steering extension, KYB shocks on all four corners, chevy bolt pattern brakes, front disk, rear drum, no adapters! All new: Master cylinder, pressure switches, lines- brake and fuel, tie rods, steering stabilizer, ball joints, calipers, rotors, drums, bearings front and rear, engine and trans mounts, starter, clutch, one wire altenator, side terminal battery in stock location. Basically every “wear” item has been replaced with new quality parts.
New Wheels and Tires, true Centerline 15x10 w/ 295-50 Coopers and 15x3-1/2 w/ 135-55 smart car fronts, custom tail lamp housings and headlamp/ turn signal mounting brackets, low mounted driving lights, reverse lamps can be lit with a separate toggle, all lights and accessories function, wiring has been completely refurbished and updated, two speed wiper, hazard, fresh air, hood / gas door release cables, plastic glove box, Sony 40wx4 stereo-CD w/ USB and aux port, 2-6” round and 2- 6x9” speakers, Bug pack short shifter, Grant steering wheel, Pop-Out side glass w/ new mechanisms New windshield, and rear glass.
Interior, everything new: replacement parts, all the rubber seals have been replaced with German parts from Wolfsburg West, TMI carpet, headliner, door panels, seat foam, and covers, front seats are custom mounted out of a Hyundai Tiburon for a lower more comfortable seating position, fully adjustable and recline, the floor, sides and roof all have sound deadening and jute padding, New mirrors, visors, armrests.
Engine just been rebuilt 1641 dual port w/ small performance cam, Weber Progressive w/ working choke on the properly engineered Bugpack intake, High volume aux oil pump/ filter, one wire alternator, smoothed German tins, 009 dist. Ceramic coated cannon pipes,
Body has been modified but not radically, the trunk area has been redesigned to seal even with the beam extension, the inner fender areas have been smoothed and trimmed for a completed look, front and rear aprons have been excised, hood has dual reliefs w/ recessed tag and reverse lamps, the side trim was removed and I installed polished stainless cap screws, new door handles, chrome custom nerf bars.
Paint is PPG Omni base clear, the color is a custom blend opalescent teal and custom blend metallic charcoal. I have ½ gallon of each that will go with the car. The body has had some rust repair with all steel welded in, the paint has a few flaws but only if you are looking to nit-pick will you find them, This car was built to be a driver, not a show pony even though it shows extremely well and gets more attention than would be expected.
If there are any any areas that I did not cover please ask and I will answer for all to read. I can supply many more finished photos and build photos to those seriously interested
Partial Build Thread: here lots of pictures and forum opinions, for more pics just ask, happy to discuss the build. thanks for looking
