Up for auction is a very original 1982 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Campmobile. I am selling this vehicle for a very close friend who is the second owner of this vehicle. It is a fine example of a Volkswagen Camper and the last of the air-cooled VW's. It is a rare survivor in that it is extremely close to the original condition. If you have questions I will get answers to the best of my ability.
Vehicle runs well. Recently the following work has been performed: new fuel filter; new fuel pump and associated fuel lines; rear wheel cylinders replaced; new front brake rotors and pads; new interstate battery, and oil change. Tires have good tread.
Van was always garage kept. Mileage is original and accurate. In addition, paint, engine, transmission, interior are original. The pop top canvas, privacy curtains, and screens are all original with no holes or tears (curtains elastic is a little stretched out from age but still in excellent shape). Awning shown (A&E Systems Inc. TRANS AWN) is not original VW equipment but is period correct and installed by first owner.
See condition section for details on imperfections. The van was driven and used and therefore isn't perfect. However, it is very original, rust-free, and in extremely good condition.
This is probably one of the nicest, most-original, example of an air cooled VW Camper you will find, especially on the east coast. I have been around and under this vehicle and can't stress enough how solid and rust-free it is. Even the inside of the battery box is clean and rust-free.
The vehicle was purchased new in Lancaster, PA at Autohaus by a gentleman who was a tool sales rep who took extremely good care of this camper from day one. Under the first owner routine maintenance and needed repairs were always preformed, including a new clutch in the 1980's. In 2006 the second (current) owner purchased it from Autohaus where is was traded in by the original owner on a new VW. During it's second ownership it was always garage kept, driven on occasion, and maintained as needed. All of the original owners manuals, users guides, warranty & maintenance booklet with ID card are in excellent shape in the original folder (you can see all of these items in the pictures).
It is located just east of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and will need to be picked up from this location. If you are seriously interested in this vehicle, it is available for your inspection and a test drive upon appointment at a mutually convenient time. Any shipping arrangements and associated costs are the buyers responsibility. However, you could fly in and drive this one home if you chose to do so. Vehicle has clean Pennsylvania title and has current Pennsylvania inspection and registration.
A $500 deposit is due via PayPal within 24 hours of auctions end. Deposit is non refundable.
