Over $10k invested in this camper. You see high-top Safare' campers but very rare to see these tin-top Safare' campers. More desirable interior layout than a westy. Has real electric fridge and propane tank. California bus with no rust! So worth the $10k we spent on the bus. The upright engine replaces the pancake. Uprights were used into the late 70's on non US buses for a good reason. They last! 72's did not have access covers for the pancake engine in the US so this fixes that factory mistake. Non US had the right answer by using upright engines like this one. All proper shrouds and mounts are made for the upright conversion, and we used it all. Don't let anyone tell you this is an issue. It is not and many non US buses had upright engines.
This camper was stored for 20 years. It has a rebuilt 1600 dual port upright engine with 12 month warrantee. $2100 spent on the engine build at a professional shop. Plus all the extras.
List of new items:
Engine, Alternator, fuel pump, mechanical advance electronic (no points) distributor, flywheel, bearing, clutch, tires, seat covers, door panels, headliner, paint, window, door and hatch seals, battery, trans checked and sorted good, muffler and pipe, numerous parts seals and lenses. For southern California buyers, the parts were from Wolfsburg West, J Bugs, Car Craft, G&G parts. Many receipts. Camper interior kit is very good ORIGINAL condition and was not touched, so has patina. Has a vintage AM/FM 8 track player but we left the speakers off when new door panels were installed.
Bus has about 100 miles on it since finishing. Runs great. Still tuning and refining. Has dings and not perfect as you can see in pics. Great daily driver that is not over restored. I have a new propane small camper van stove that I was going to install on top of the fridge cabinet but I was told the stock configuration had the long propane line that allows using a stove on the pop up shelf or even on a table outside the slider. So did not cut the cabinet top.
You will not be disappointed with this camper bus. I am selling it with no reserve because it will sell well, and stands out. Please ensure this is the camper you have been waiting for. Sold as-is with no warrantee, except the 12 month engine warrantee passed on from the builder. Title clear and in hand and registered for California roads. $500 deposit in 24 hours, balance in 3 days. Can store the bus for 30 days or more while you get transport. But payments are made on time or we move to the next bidder. No complaints please.
