Super sweet surf wagon...This is one cool ride... 1971 was one of my favorite years buses due to the fact that it was the first year for Disc brakes and brake booster. It was also the first year for the 1600 Dual Port Engine and last year for the upright style engine. Speaking of Engines, this bus features a rebuilt 1600 dual Port with less than 300 miles on it. (unfortunately I didn't receive any paperwork with it, but it looks super clean and runs like a champ) The motor was also just serviced with a valve adjustment, oil change, and complete tune-up. The transaxle shifts smooth, and doesn't grind or pop-out of gear. The front-end is tight, doesn't clunk or wander and steers straight down the road. The brakes are in excellent condition too, don't chatter or pull, and stop smoothly. All in all this bus is in excellent mechanical condition and should bring it's lucky new owner years of dependable enjoyment...
Cosmetically this bus looks fantastic, repainted the original Neptune Blue and Pastel White. Topped-off with a retro wooden roof rack, it turns heads wherever it goes. Rolling on like new Michelin tires, mounted on factory wheels with custom beauty rings and original hubcaps it looks really sharp. All the electrical is in good working order as well. The Front Windshield, Rear window, front doors, sliding door, and rear hatch seals were replaced as well. All the glass was removed prior to being paint too... One key works all the doors and the ignition which is really rare these days... This is an all around great original looking bus that just brings ya back to the 70's wherever you go. .
The interior might be my favorite part, with the custom Brown and Tan reupholstered seats, and new Birch Paneling all the way around. It just screams Tiki Surfer style and class... It has the original rubber floor mats for easy clean up and care. The original AM Radio even works, but only plays oldies...:) The full length middle seat is very rare, and allows for one more happy passenger to ride along... The interior just has this fun custom feel to it...
So I could go on and on about how great this bus is...But there are a few slight flaws I should tell you about. The head liner has one small tear which has been repaired. The rear bumper is a little rough and probably should have been worked on more before being painted. The front nose was damaged at some point and some of the body work isn't the greatest. There's a couple small stress cracks but nothing too serious. The vent pipe going up to the dash is missing, but I may be able to locate one this week and replace it...This bus is 44 years old, looks and runs great, but like all of us it's not getting any younger. Heck, the flaws are what give it it's charm...
So I'm going to wrap this up...I am a licensed and bonded dealer so I have to sell this as miles exempt pure Colorado State law. I am open to offers on my Buy It Now price, but will only negotiate in person or over the phone. Not through E-mails and will only sell through E-bay. Feel free to call me anytime with any questions or concerns at 720-270-5637... If your local any serious you're welcome to set up a personal viewing and test drive. I think that about covers it...Thank for looking at my auction and good luck bidding...
