The overall condition of the car is very, very nice. Being a car that is 24 years old, it is not a “new car” and I will make every effort to describe its imperfections. As a car enthusiast who has bought and sold several vehicles, I understand the importance of an accurate description of a vehicle that may be purchased sight unseen. I believe that the new owner will be quite pleased.
I purchased the car in 2011 from a dealer in NJ, and drove it for a while before moving to the west coast. From a mechanical perspective I am not aware of any needs or concerns. Here is a small list of things that have been done to the car in the last few years:
GMG Racing in Santa Ana did the following while having 53, 356 miles on the car (over $10k in work):
New engine
AC
transmission
Short shifter
Exhaust
Brake lines
Brakes
New white top
I had Best Buy install a Kenwood cd player with satellite radio with lifetime subscription and new speakers. It comes with aftermarket wheels (16's) with falken tires with lots of tread life left, it does not have the original wheels.
The car is serviced regularly at Janky Garage in El Cajon and any significant issues are always promptly addressed. They also installed ST Suspensions coilovers and installed new fuel lines and new rack and pinion. The car currently has 61, 270 miles. The car is driven weekly so the mileage will change.
Cosmetically, the car is very nice. I would say that it is in better condition than 95% of the VW Cabriolets that are for sale or on the road. The car has never been in any accidents that I am aware of. The paint is very nice and shines beautifully in sunlight. It has not been repainted. There are a couple of rust spots, and other spots (please see the photos). The interior is beautiful and all of the white leather surfaces are fantastic for the age of the car. The car has a clear title, and I have it in hand. The car comes with NO WARRANTY. The car comes AS IS. The buyer is responsible for all DMV fees and shipping if not local to the San Diego area. Deposit of $500.00 is due at the close of the auction. I will only accept Certified Bank Check for payment of the car. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping the vehicle, all taxes and fees to title, plate, and register the vehicle.
