Price: US $7,500.00
For a 53 year old car, this 1963 Karmann Ghia Convertible have made it thru in pretty good condition. It would be a perfect candidate for someone to do a full restore for that you have good bones to work with. I found this ghia in pretty sad shape as far as the basics. The drive train was in tach and the top was still in pretty good shape. I put it back to being as stock as i could, signal light, light trim, etc. I pulled the engine and resealed everything including the trans, new pushrod tubes, etc, so their are no oil leaks. Upgraded the dist. to the 009 plus installed the electronic kit, alternator, wires, plugs, engine rubber, tin, etc. We also installed a new clutch since i had it out. I went thru the brakes, new wheel cylinders, master cylinder, pads, i am still looking for a deal on a conversion brake kit for it.. I installed new wiring harness, fuse panel, and did the best i could on the tail lights, but got them to work properly. new carpet, got all the gauges and light working. I'll tell you whoever did the drivetrain on this car must have also re geared the transmission, because it have no problem on the freeway holding 80-90 mph, and don't appear to be taching 3000rpm.
It still needs full weatherstripping and paint, but not much else.
This sale will be an as is condition sale.
I hold the right to cancel this add at anytime for i am doing a local listing also.
There will be a $500 non refundable deposit 48 hr of winning the bid.

“This Karmann Ghia is in very good condition for a daily driver. No oil leads, good power, 1641 dp engine with duel solex 40 carbs. I have done a lot of work to get it to were it is at, hopefully someone will take the next step and do a full restore. It had the drive train in it when i purchased it, however it has no problem with rolling 80-90mph on the freeway, which tells me that the trans have been upgraded for highway speeds. Currently the ghia still needs weatherstripping, paint, and some odds and ends to be a 25 thousand dollar car, but that would be about it, I've done mostly everything else.” |
