I am the 3rd owner. Original purchase 08/05/1968 thru 12/06/1968, 5 miles thru 7442 miles the car was in Kansas City Missouri. 03/03/1969 thru 04/29/1970, 8960 miles thru 23, 593 miles the car was in Merriam Kansas.
11/14/1970 thru 04/23/1971, 27, 400 miles thru 30, 552 miles the car was in San Antonio Texas per the Maintenance schedule. When I purchased the car a Florida title dated 01/19/78 was transferred in to my name. The car was located in Deland Fl. I met with the owners mechanic to purchase the car. I told him I was going to restore the car and put a grate motor in it. He told me they would not sell it to me because it was original. I had to promise them that I would only replace parts as needed and rebuild the original motor when needed. I have replaced the top and liner, battery, had the generator rebuilt, replaced brakes, some brake lines. tires, some tie rods and ball joints, some seals at the doors and windows, raised the rear of the car with torsion adjustments, spring plate bushings, new shocks and struts. when the seal was replaced at the windshield the tech could not get the chrome trim on so he replaced it without it. I had the original luggage rack powder coated black. The gas tank was replaced before my purchase. I would prefer an on site purchase so you can see, touch/feel and drive the car that is your choice.

| “Used running 47 year old car, parts replaced as needed. Wiper washer, cigarette lighter, clock, & dome light are there but do not work. I also have the original radio that I replaced with a am/fm stereo replica. I was given a trailer hitch that I have not installed. I consider this car in very good condition as compared to what I have seen in the area and at a VW show in our area And what other Karmann Ghia owners have told me. Slight wobble in the front when driving at low speeds I was told by an alignment shop that I need to replace the original rims. the wobble smooths out at higher speeds. Solid body with very minimal rust no rust thru.” |
