Selling my 1997 Volvo 850 wagon with automatic transmission. I am the second owner. First owner bought new in 1997 and did a European delivery (car and owner traveled around Europe before being shipped to USA). I got it this year. Previous owner (Boston Dr.) has all of the maintenance records including waterpump, timing belt, replacement. The odometer stopped at 114, ooo and the car is estimated to have about 170k on it. True mileage is sadly unknown though these cars will run to 400, 000 and beyond.
It has a power moonroof, tape player, power windows, power door locks. The interior is dark grey clothe and comes with rubber Volvo floor mats. It is an automatic transmission and has very little signs of wear for the age mileage.
Outside the car is in decent shape for almost 20 years old. There is a dent in the left front fender as seen in pictures. Also a little rust in the lower corner of front fenders and a small amount below tailgate glass. Apart from that the body is rust free and overall solid.
Mechanically the car has been well maintained though the suspension needs some love. It has later model S70/V70 wheels and Michelin tires. I just had new rear brake pads and rotors put on car (Volvo replacement parts) and it just passed Massachusetts State inspection. It is emissions exempt (cat has been removed and straight pipe in place so exhaust is throaty but does not leak). The car will need the usual 850 stuff. Front ball joints, sway bar links and tie rods should be changed soon. IPD sells a kit for these for under a few hundred bucks. Rear delta link bushings also need replacement. The car has about 7 years left before the timing belt needs replacement again. New spark plugs, thermostat and a bunch of other tune up bits. Hatch pistons just replaced with Volvo ones for tailgate lift. This car will easily go to 400, 000 miles and beyond as it has been taken care of.
Keep in mind that it is a 19 year old beast. It will need love and cosmetics but the bones are there for lots of trouble free driving. I bought a new Volvo so no longer need this one! Come give it a good home and bring it back to it's full glory. This vehicle is sold as is and due to it's age comes with no warranties or guarantees. The known issues have been disclosed car is being driven 35 miles a day until sold.
