This is an excellent driver's grade car. With cosmetic upgrades it can readily get to a much higher level. I am selling it for a longtime vintage Volvo enthusiast who got it in 2001. Health issues now force this sale. I am not an expert on this car, my experience is with vintage BMW's, so I don't know everything about this car, and it's selling as is. That said, I do know the following-- it's been kept garaged and driven lightly but regularly for the past 14 years. There is a large box of records in the car, I have not reviewed them. Recent mechanical maintenance done, and the car seems excellent mechanically. I can set you up to talk to the mechanic if you are serious about the car. A/c not cold. Oil temp gauge not working.
Cosmetically, it's acceptable plus to me, but others may want to make upgrades. The older repaint is okay plus. The upholstery is worn but also ok. Carpets ok. Dash has one crack not visible from inside. Trim and bright work are quite presentable. Various interior bits could use renewal, door gaskets need replacement.
Last week, I noticed a fuel leak coming from in front of the fuel tank, when car is parked on an inclined only.this will be diagnosed and repaired.
Apparently these cars tend to have rust issues. My friend's car is no exception. There's a small stable bubble down low driver's side back of wheel arch. Underneath, to my knowledge there are two places, in the area under the driver seat, where there is perforation. Me, I'd fix these, .Again, this car has barely if at all been in the rain since 2001.
All in, this is in my opinion a fine car. It's not quite turnkey, but close if what you want is an 1800es you can use while upgrading, etc. I am in no nonsense mode here, this sale is a sad situation for my friend, and for me. If you love these cars, you should consider buying it.
