Selling this car because I've moved to the city and am not using it often enough to justify the repairs. I will detail all that I know is wrong with it below and will take ANY questions that come up! Car is being sold as is. I think someone who knows these cars well will walk away with a great deal.
I have owned the car for over 3 years, I am the second owner and have taken great care, changing the oil every 3000 miles and using the highest quality synthetic (which I have been told is overkill, but I believe you get what you pay for and I wanted this car to last forever). Car was running in excellent shape until about 8 months ago where all of the trouble started.
Major Issue:
About 8 months ago, the car stalled randomly at a stop, and took a few times to turn over but finally booted back up. The car was then fine for a few months when it happened again-- this has happened maybe 1 or two more times. The other thing that started happening at this time was what felt like a loss of power in the throttle. As that got worse through the winter, I took it to the Volvo Dealership and they deduced it to either a wiring issue or carbon buildup on the valves and recommended a compression test. The compression test came back and you can see the results in the pictures. Apparently there might be excess carbon built up on the valves which is allowing the engine to gain pressure but not hold it. I am not totally sure what that means. All that I know is that they recommended a $2, 500+ fix. Since then I have heard of people taking the car for a long high RPM ride to clean out the engine or to walnut blast the engine. I have tried neither and at this point would just like to part with the vehicle. The car has still been drivable, and at certain speeds it feels totally fine (which is strange), most recently I was driving it with the A/C on and I think the engine was too taxed or something and began to stall a lot, I turned the A/C off and managed to get it home.
Other issues:
-Tailpipe (see pictures) was hit on a curb and broke off-Climate control on just the passengers side gets funky sometimes and thinks you want the opposite, as in it blows cool when you want heat, and vice versa (not a huge issue, only happens in a blue moon)-I have had the message Alarm system maintenance required for the last 2 years but have never had an issue with the alarm or any thing related to that-The body is in decent shape, but as you can see the front fender is cracked slightly, besides that there is normal wear on a 10 year old car
Besides the issues, just about everything else functions just fine on the car.
It comes with 2 keys and the owners manual.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have!
