If ignore the niggling issues listed below, this all wheel drive Volvo is a reliable car that drives great. It doesn't burn oil and will run all day at highway speeds. I have other vehicles and this car was used occasionally on weekends and when it snowed because of its all wheel drive. I now have another all wheel drive vehicle so the Volvo is surplus. I bought this car several years ago to replace a Volvo 940 wagon that someone crashed into while parked and was totaled. This newer series, while a bit more refined than the earlier series, exhibits little failures that would not occur with the earlier series. Here are those niggling issues;
Fuel gauge stopped working years ago. I just reset the trip odometer when I fill up and get gas when I hit about 250 miles.Radio backlights are nearly all out. I have another radio I bought to replace it years ago but I don't have the code. I'll include the other radio. Radio and CD changer work fine, however.Low windshield washer liquid is constantly on.The TRACS OFF and the associated ABS lights come on every once in a while. This is a very common problem with these cars. It is the ABS electronic module which I had replaced about 60K miles ago. Eventually it will stay on constantly as the internal circuit wiring fails. Look up TRACS OFF V 70 via google and you can read all about it.Front cigarette lighter/power receptacle doesn't work. The one on the rear of the center console works so you can still charge your phone or other device.Cruise control does not work.Windshield and headlight washers are hit and miss.Check engine light is on. Driver seat heater does not work. Passenger seat heater works.
Cosmetically the car is about average for its age. The right rear passenger was replaced (I speared the original door with my tractor forks!) and though it was sold as silver it arrived a much darker gray. I repainted it myself with the original Volvo paint but if you look in the photos you will see that the right rear door is just a little darker, as the older paint has lightened over time.
Other than that the body is pretty straight but there are plenty of scratches and other small imperfections. See the photos. Overall the car is presentable. The leather interior is ok for its age, I took plenty of pictures so have a look.
Now the good stuff:
I replaced the exhaust CAT back not too many miles agoTires don't have many miles on them and are in great shape.Power windows, power sun roof and power seat all work fine. The power locks, except for the right rear door work. The right rear door will open but then will immediately lock back up. The remote does work, but the battery needs replacing.Water pump was replaced along with the timing belt less than 30K ago or so.Rear Turbo coolant lines were replaced less than 10K miles ago. (Big expensive job).The car has a tow package.The car has the OEM pet barrier which will be included.Battery is fairly new.Brake pads have plenty of wear left.Great cold A/C (and good heat in the winter)
I am starting the price very low.
