Volvo V70 R (2000)
for sale

Price: US $800.00

Description:

Up for sale is my 2000 Laser Blue V70 R. I have owned this car for the last three years and it has been my baby and my daily driver nearly every day until last month. A stalled car in the fast lane caused a pileup on my local freeway and I just clipped the car in front of me trying to avoid what I though was certain death .(see last picture). I didn't think the damage was all that bad, and it isn't to bad overall, however the insurance company didn't want to pay to replace an R bumper, fender, headlight bracket, wheels, and Misc. other pieces, then paint the entire front end of the car to top it all off. So they decided to total it and pay me out for the car. I bought it back thinking I was going to fix the fender and light assembly etc. and drive it forever. but I'm just not that motivated any more. So to recoup some of the money the insurance company didn't give me, I offer it to you, my fellow Volvo enthusiast, as is, on the cheap.
A little history.
I purchased the car in California in December of 2012 and I have spent a lot of time and $ making her as nice as I could.
The car is all pretty original except for an upgraded ECU from ARD. They made a clone of a stock ECU for me when the IPD ECU failed. The 19T turbo currently provides up to 15 pounds of boost to a well cared for motor.
Some of the good:
The first thing I did early on was get the timing belt replaced at 160000. (Cost $1, 100.00)
Included with that were:
new oil line pipetiming beltTensioneridlernew water pumpSpark plugsLaborIn October of 2013 I have the following replaced: (cost $1, 500.00)
Driveshaft CV joint kitEngine mountTie rodsSteering rack bootsLaborIn November of 2013 the lower radiator hose failed and the car overheated. The head gasket failed internally and the car started eating coolant very slowly. I decided to have the head redone. (cost $2, 250.00) Included with that was;
Cylinder head gasket replacement w/valve stem sealsNew head boltsNew radiator hosesNew thermostat kitNew water temperature senderNew expansion tankNew Exp. tank capNew coolant level sensorLaborI of course also had:
Head resurfacedValves hand lappedOn 11-6-2014 I completed the following:
New Volvo Suspension Kit from FCP Euro: (cost $1, 000.00)

July 2014:
New front slotted/vented disc brakes and pads.
Overall this Laser Blue V70 R is as strong of a driver as they come. I would trust this car to currently drive me anywhere at anytime. All oil was changed by me a minimum every 3000 miles with Castrol. With the large turbo, tight motor and all new suspension, this car runs and drives almost like new. The AWD is operating flawlessly and has never had any signs of issue, ever. The transmission operates as it should and has had a recent Full flush within the last 6 months. However in the interest of full disclosure it will periodically clunk from second to first when coming to a stop. This is a recent occurrence within the last 6 months. Flushing the trans. and adding a poly engine mount helped tremendously. And that is what set off the check engine light.
The interior is actually in very decent condition and I would rate it an 8 out of 10. The flaws being a tear in the seam of the butt portion of the passenger seat. It is hard to notice if you don't know it's there. and since it is/was my daily driver it has seen many children and a few stains that could be washed out with a good cleaning.
The body is probably a 7 out of 10 on the non accident damaged areas due to normal dings and dents , and the ugly ass clear bra on the front is no help and the rear bumper has clear coat peeling off.
The rough spots:
To fix the car you will want to replace the bumper insert, fix the crack on the corner of the bumper. Replace the fender. Replace the large piece that the headlights screw into, and the wheel well plastic insert. The hood also needs the very tip of the corner fixed. And if you wanted it to look sharp a repaint of the front is in order. If not, just replace these parts and a few others from the auto body build sheet.
The auto body shop started the teardown and was mid teardown when the insurance company halted progress. I have put most of the pieces back together, but the drivers door handle is still off the car and the inside drivers door panel is in the trunk, as is the rest of the bagged and tagged parts the auto shop pulled that I haven't got to yet.
This car is totally drivable, BUT, the bumper is not screwed down, and no drivers headlight or fender. That would make a long distance trip a bit funky.
ALSO: THE WHITE WHEELS AND TIRES ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THE SALE! =(
I currently have small spares on all four corners now. However, if you needed a full size set I may be able to wrangle up a cheap set from one of the local Volvo guys nearby.
The car will most likely come with a rebuildable or salvage title. Which ever the DMV gives me to give to you. You should check with you local state laws on what kind of title you can get if you fix the car. Utah will give you what's called a rebuilt title if you have it inspected after fixing. Please do your research. I am selling this car as-is minus the wheels in the pictures and if you have any questions please contact me and I will do my very best to assist you as I may have left out things you wanted to know.
I really loved this car and as a Volvo enthusiast I did my best to keep her in ship shape, but I am no mechanic so it is time to let it go to a good home, not the crusher. If you have a knack for fixing cars then this is the car for you. I will include with the sale will be as many extra parts I have gathered over the years. PEACE.
