2002 VOLVO XC70 MECHANICS SPECIAL!
This 2002 Volvo XC70 is in running condition, but has a severe oil leak from the front engine seals. The vehicle is being sold in as-is, where-is condition, and driving the car a great distance is not recommended. I have owned the vehicle for several years, but have not been able to keep up with the maintenance, and I will list to the best of my ability the items I know of needing repair below:
World Wide Automotive Service in Bloomington, Indiana recommended the following after a recent inspection of the vehicle (10/02/2015):
Replacing Engine Seals, Timing Belt, VVT Unit and Oil Trap, New tires all the way around, Rear brake pads and rotors need replaced, and the transmission has a delayed engagement (that has been with the car since I bought it at 75K miles).
The front left hand side needs front end work, perhaps a bad/loose tie rod. Car vibrates at highway speeds.
I believe the brake sensor needs replacing, as I recently lost the use of cruise control, and a message pertaining to the engine's performance came on.
The vehicle has recently lost a bit of horse power too, after I replaced the Power Brake Booster, and I believe that it needs a new Turbo Air Intake Hose.
The car has other nuances, such as the passenger side door lock does not work automatically, but does when manually engaged. The driver side electric window sticks now and then, and I have not been able to determine if it is in the switch or motor. The in-dash computer screen does not always work, just illuminates. And the factory stereo will sometimes randomly search from one station to others until I manually set the station back. Also, this Spring, someone tried breaking into the car by hitting the driver's side laminated window, and damaged the top right hand corner (see photographs).
I replaced the alternator, with a new one, about 50k miles ago. A new starter was installed about 20k miles ago, and as mentioned above, I installed a used Power Brake Booster with only 95k miles on it. The car is currently advertised For Sale and being stored in Martinsville, Indiana 46151 rather than at my Bloomington address.
