1941 Willys Coupe

Willys Coupe (1941)

Price: US $18,000.00

Description:

You are looking at a real STEEL Willys coupe! The car is a 1938 body with a '41 fiberglass one piece front end. What I know from the previous owner is that this car spent about 30 years in an Arizona creek bed...on its roof. The rear roof was crushed and stretched beyond the point of bringing it back, as was the top of the split window. The previous owner gave me the pieces to save the roof and basically save the car. As you can see by the pictures, the roof pieces and rear split window piece are all in. The hammering, dollying, cutting and welding are all done on the roof and it just needs grinder work. The lower body needs patch work in the typical spots (doglegs, rear trunk floor, etc). What is amazing is how good the floor is after it spent all of those years on its roof! I have two rear steel fenders for it, and they need attention but are totally workable. There are two deck lids, one steel on that needs quite a bit of work, and one heavy fiberglass one. The package tray is still in the car! The frame is unmodified with the exception of a new front crossmember. We put a new Speedway tube straight axle in the front of it a few years ago, along with the springs, tie rod, and new Chevy spindles. It has a Ford 9 in back out of a '66 Ford F100. I didn't move the rear spring perches to center the axle in the wheel wells. I have the original dashboard and it needs work (double glove boxes!). I have extras for this as well...original '41 headlight buckets, transmission hump, trunk hinges, window regulators, the rear split window inner trim pieces, door handles, etc. The doors started their lives as 4 door doors and have begun their journey to becoming coupe doors...they just need to be finished. The car is titled in Wisconsin as a 1938 Willys coupe and is clear. I own and run a hot rod shop and would be interested in completing the build of this car for the buyer for added cost, so I would like to leave that option open to anyone interested in the car. I can email more pictures if you would like and I am here to answer any questions you may have about it. Thank you for your interest and good luck bidding!

“This is a real steel Willys coupe! It's a 1938 steel body with a fiberglass one piece front end...a '38 body is the same as '41 with a drip rail "ledge" versus a typical style drip rail. This car has a pretty interesting history, and I wish I knew more about it, but what I do know is that it had spent about 30 years on its roof in an Arizona creek. The back of the roof and split window had both been crushed really badly. I got the pieces to repair it from the previous owner. The most difficult part of fixing the body is the roof, and it only needs grinder work...the cutting, welding, hammer and dollying is done on it. Lower body needs steel work, the typical patch areas (doglegs, etc.). Package tray is still in the car. I have the rear workable steel fenders. 2 deck lids, one steel, one 'glass. Doors were 4 door doors and need to be finished. The frame is stock except for a different front crossmember. New straight axle, For 9" rear end. I can email you more pics if you would like!”
