Description:

1948 WILLYS CJ2A S/N 175759 Farm Jeep, still six volt electrics, previous owner stated it was in his family since 1960 and was used around their farm in Illinois. Pulled a mower and used rear PTO for a saw mill. It has 26784 original miles on speedo. He said his father was a mechanic and rebuilt the engine, didn't remember the exact year, he started a restoration on it several years ago. Here is a list of what was done and cost to it before I obtained it. These prices are a lot lower than today’s prices. Battery tray…$60, spare tire and rim and bracket…$142, rear floor bracket…$29, body to frame pads…$53, shift lever boots…$49, brakes master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines, steel lines, rubber lines…$470, steel gas tank/gauge/strap…$153, side mirror…$23, front floor pan…$230, outside labor install floor and misc…$630, shock absorbers…$86, ignition switch…$16, front seat frames…$270, steering gear and shaft…$97, 5 non-directional military tires and tubes…$425, rebuild starter…$170, rebuilt generator…$40, re-core radiator…$285, water pump…$40, wheel bearings…$55, windshield glass…$71, windshield glass frame…$50, distributor cap/rotor/points/condenser/coil…$70, shift knobs…$23, radiator hoses/fan belt…$30, exhaust system…$295, oil filter hose…$14, oil filter…$10, manifold gasket…$13, hand brake cable…$28, speedometer cable…$24, spark plugs and wires…$32.Other than the outside labor to install the floor, these prices do not include installation labor…and totals $3, 920. I refreshed some of the tune-up parts, added new and original parts. Here is a list of the parts I refreshed and added.Original 6 volt horn, new horn button wire kit, 6 volt windshield wiper, ignition switch, light switch, dimmer switch, correct two wire fuel gauge, fuel sending unit, spark plugs, spark plug wires, 6 volt coil, new Solex carburetor with in line fuel pressure regulator, choke cable/wire/knob, throttle cable/wire/original ratcheting knob, inner windshield rubber, windshield to cowl rubber, windshield lever anti-rattle washers, steering wheel, new WEE BEE WEBBING vinyl seat cushions, new number 2 positive and ground wires with quick disconnect switch, some new re-wiring using vintage cloth covered wire with soldiered connections/rubber tipped, clean distributor internal governor, light bulbs installed as needed, PTO lever leather boot and boot ring. Everything is wired through switch, so nothing can be left on to run down the battery. New and original parts included, but not installed…6 volt distributor (old one has some play, still works good), original WO Carter carburetor with brass tag (with master rebuild kit installed and (oversize flap shaft to be fitted and installed) (original shaft is wore and leaking air), throw out bearing with bracket and pilot bearing (throw out bearing makes noise sometimes), L & S PTO C-10002, 640603 Drum Pulley Unit, 6 volt Harrison Heater H-441-48, Pierce Governor with miscellaneous mounting brackets, brake and clutch pedal felt seal kit, original grill screen (has hole), original wheel drum puller from vintage Willys Jeep repair shop, original single hand windshield wiper needs cleaning and new blade. I haven't driven this jeep over 35 miles per hour, but his little jeep starts and runs great, except when first started it is very cold natured, runs good and strong when warmed up, does not smoke, does mark it territory in small spots, (three or four spots in my garage while I was working on it) shifts good in all gears, 4-wheel drives works good, I could not get it to jump out of gear in second, PTO works good and quiet, all gauges work, all lights work, including dash light and high beam red light, tag light. Brakes work well, probably needs adjusting as pedal height is low, horn works, all original gauges, except fuel gauge, has original oil bath air breather, tool box has no rust, four original 16 inch wheels, holds around 20 psi at warm temperature, faster engine speed the more it goes up, clean Oklahoma title. Would be an excellent total restoration candidate or, use as is because it is mostly rust free, tailgate has small amount rust at bottom, surface rust underneath, rough paint on fenders, it was partially re-painted, but is not the best, but looks good at 20 feet. I will be glad to answer any questions the best I can and will try to take photos of any area you may want a closer look at.
