This is an original as found M38A1. This has been in very long term dry storage by a well known pats dealer from years back. Around 40 years to be exact. This was purchased at auction from the Mississippi fish and game commission in 1971 and put into storage. This had the standard radio unit in it that took up the whole rear part of the jeep. It has the holes for the rectifier in the grill. The engine is totally complete. It has never been in private hands to be trashed. It still has all but one of the dash mounted gauges for the radio system. All the data plates are present. These USMC contract jeeps have factory installed lockers in the axles. Which makes them very capable off road, more so than the standard M38A1 jeeps. The fuel tank comes with this. We took it out to keep it in the dry. Yes this is a USMC jeep and has rust in the body but in really weird places as well as the normal places for the M38A1s. The fuel sump is solid. The frame is in very good condition as well as all the mechanical components. We have not attempted to start the jeep but it is not stuck and the transmission and transfer case shifts in all the gears. This is a project vehicle but a very complete and 100% original. The original markings are still showing as well. This served with the Third Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan and was shipped back to Anniston, Alabama for a refit. It them went to the Mississippi fish and game department.
