I am listing this truck for my brother, who has had it for 16 years and did the complete frame-off restoration and modifications. This truck has only had three owners. It was used as a volunteer fireman's truck and civil defense truck. The original stickers are still on the windows, and firelight and siren was updated to 12V. When last purchased, the body was in great shape with little rust. The following is a description of the work performed over the last 16 years.
With the frame-off it was modified as follows: Fatman Mustang II rack and pinion front suspension New or modified motor mounts and transmission mounts installed to fit newer engine Custom one-piece drive shaft 9 Ford rear-end fitted to the original springs and brackets Some leaf springs were removed to soften the ride Original gas tank was removed and a newer, larger tank (18 gal.) installed, with old fill tube brought out at the original opening New gas lines and brake lines installed Power disk brakes (front), drum (rear)
Other work performed: Original hood has been louvered Battery relocated under the driver seat with a hinge for easy access Original steering was retained Custom dash fitted to the old dash opening All main gauges are Stewart Warner Tachometer added Transmission temperature gauge added Two transmission coolers in series were installed Custom seats Custom console with stereo and cup holders All window glass is original with no cracks or fogging Original headliner (not perfect but repairable) Rocker panels and cab corners were restored New floor boards were installed The underside of all the cab body and frame has been treated with Por-15. B&W floor shifter installed in console Door panels and handles are all original and in good shape Interior lighting is overhead, and there are lights on each side of the console Custom bed railings are oak finished with custom storage box made to match Custom made rear bumper with LED brake light installed, in addition to the original brake and parking lights The motor from a 1964 Ford, is a 289 ci and has been totally rebuilt; a mild cam, HEI distributor, Edelbrock intake (hi-rise), 4-barrel carburetor, custom headers Rebuilt cruise-o-matic transmission from a 1964 Ford Custom made aluminum radiator with 2 electric fans Custom Coker wheels with deeper dish wheels on rear
With the body off of the frame, the fenders, the bed, and the tailgate were all stripped to bare metal. What few dents were found, have been repaired. (see photos). This particular paint style makes it difficult to fully appreciate the good condition of the truck body.
The electric antenna is not working. The gas tank sending unit needs further adjustment.
This truck is finished, and you can drive it anywhere. It handles and rides much better than when new.Buyer responsible for pick up or delivery.
