This is my 1962 Willys Jeep truck. It is 4wd with a Hurricane 226, Inline 6 motor that shifts through a three speed transmission. Below is more information about the truck:
Drivetrain:
The motor starts and runs great. The six cylinder motor sounds good with no abnormal sounds and doesn't run hot. The three speed transmission shifts as it should. There are drum brakes at all four corners. The hubs engage as they should. The tires have plenty of tread as well. These trucks were geared to work, not drive on the highway so 40mph is about all it will go without an overdrive installed. Besides, with non-power drum brakes, that's probably as fast as you would want to go. The truck has a working PTO winch installed on the front.
Body:
At some point, the truck was painted a camo color scheme which wasn't done the best. The original color was green which can be seen in the interior pictures. The truck does has some rust issues which can be seen in the pictures. Also, just in front of the driver's side door is a cosmetic wrinkle where something was hit. The floorboards of the truck need to be replaced as rust has taken its toll on them. Wood was put on the driver's side to serve as a floor while the passenger side has no floorboard. I do have new floorboards which haven't been installed yet, but that I will give to the winning bidder. The bed of the truck has some spots that has rusted through. The door windows are plexiglass. The driver's door panel was removed in order to replace with a new one. I do have the old one that will be put back on the truck.
Other:
This truck was purchased new by a neighbor from the Willys dealer in Jackson, MS, and the original bill of sale and owner's manual will come with the truck. The truck does have some oil leaks as any old truck would. I haven't addressed the leaks, just kept the fluids topped off. The leaks center around the transfer case and seal at the rear end, though there could be more. The engine is tight and runs great. I drive the truck on weekends and have enjoyed it, but it is time to move on. Please be reasonable with your expectations of the truck as it is 53 years old.
