1963 Studebaker Avanti
** Extremely Rare one of approximately 570 ** 1963 4 speed Avantis ever made! ** The addition of Air Conditioning, Power steering, Dual traction, etc makes this car even more rare **
Do not confuse the 63/64 Avantis with the reproduction Avanti II cars, * **** they are not the same at all.
T
he Studebaker Avanti was introduced on April 26, 1962.
This car is
Number 346 off the assembly line.
* **** It is 53 years old, and It has never been restored * ****
It is still in very good shape, considering its age.
It is one of only 213 cars made in September 1962!
289 V-8 Studebaker engine, original body and interior, new brakes, new tires, factory air, power steering, 4-speed standard transmission, runs good. Clear
title.
Options include air conditioning, power steering, twin traction limited slip differential, and I am pretty sure it has the hill holder option by the way the transmission acts.
All early Avantis came equiped with a 140 mph speedometer.
The optional four-speed
full-synchromesh transmission was a T-10A, and it featured 2.54:1 first, 1.92:1
second, 1.51:1 third and 1.00:1 fourth gears.
The easily shifted manual
transmissions were available with Studebaker's famous Hill Holder.
Avantis
offered the Twin Traction limited-slip differential as a desirable option.
Studebaker set itself apart from the crowd by
specifying standard Bendix 11.5-inch disc brakes for the front of every Avanti, while the rear brakes were finned drums measuring 11 x 2 inches.
Power assist
was standard, and a total of 377 square inches of swept area meant that Avantis
were among the best-stopping cars of their day.
This Avanti has a very good body, but has a few flaws.
The paint is a 10 footer, but is still presentable with it's flaws, as it is very old.
The interior is very good but also has a few flaws. (It is original the best I can tell).
The tires are new. Wheel covers are pretty nice, and the brakes have been gone through.
The underbody is quite good also but could use a good detailing.
The car runs and stops fine.
** This is a great investment compared to many other cars not as rare. Plus it won't break the Bank if it breaks! **
Plus the Avanti can be driven daily once you get it ready. This is an extremely rare version of the Avanti because of the 4 speed transmission, power steering, limited slip differential, and air conditioning!
** This car is due for a big jump in value soon in my opinion. (Very Undervalued)! **
Sold As Is (so please ask questions before bidding)
Thanks.
