Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon (1974)

Price: US $1,000.00
My beautiful 1974 Westy. This vehicle is amazing, original, and has thousands of dollars
in receipts and maintenance records. Overseas buyers are
welcome to bid, I have title in hand so shipping overseas will not be an issue. This
is an extremely solid, original, early 70’s bus. Restored busses can be found
anywhere and will always be available. Original is getting more and more
rare. This has a story and character which can never be duplicated with a
restoration…
So where to begin? This bus is almost completely ORIGINAL! (ONLY exceptions- canvas and rear carpet replaced with rubber flooring) Original paint? Yes! It is original and somehow still
shines bright. The orange looks amazing and is by far the best and most
unique color Volkswagen offered, and in my opinion this is the color that
helped these things become famous, which is why it’s the most sought after
color today.
There is no hidden
bondo, no patches, hidden rust, etc. Most of the factory undercoating is still
present on all the floor paneling and frame rails, helping them standup over
time without rusting and rotting, which is very rare for a Volkswagen of this age. No
frame or floor patches whatsoever. Not one floor or panel has been
patched. Still
has all of the German factory stickers, stamps, tags, and logos throughout the
bus. As you will also see
the interior is in excellent condition. Has the awesome orange plaid
fabric throughout which is in great condition. The cabinetry is in great
shape, including the sink, counters, drawers, etc. Plenty of storage. This bus has a propane stove which does still work great! So yes, if you
prefer to have someone cook up a meal while you’re busy cruising through the mountains
you can! This is the first
year that VW introduced the full bunk bed up top, which is great compared with
the cot they used prior to this. The canvas has been replaced with a genuine german made OEM canvas. The
fold out table is in great shape and still has the slide out extension piece!
Engine, transmission, brakes, tires, electrical? Yes, all work fantastic! The
engine is the original 1800, which runs fantastic! It was fully rebuilt and
comes with several thousand dollars in receipts to prove it. With that said, this engine is pristine. Lots of power and very reliable. All fluids are
clean and always maintained. Starts right up and idles fantastic, no
smoking, odd noises, etc. Transmission and clutch are great, no slipping, grinding, or popping out of gear. Presently, only one tail light is out. Otherwise, every light works; headlights, high
beams, blinkers, hazards, license plate light, brake lights, parking lights, etc. Wipers work. Horn works. Interior lights work.
Speedometer works. Oil warning light works. Gas gauge works. Brakes work great, no pulling or grinding. Windows
go up and down with ease. Pop out windows open and close as they should. E-Brake works great, and tires are in great shape.
If
you have any additional questions please reach out prior to bidding. Please
look at all the pictures. As you’d expect it does have a couple dings, scratches, etc, its 40 years old. If you want any additional or specific
pictures please let me know.
This Westy has been a huge part of my life and I have enjoyed every experience. From exploring Yosemite to driving down the coasts of Big Sur, this bus has been an eye catcher and conversation starter. If you've been wanting to have an adventure or two yourself, this bus is the perfect catalyst for great lifelong memories. My hope is that whoever buys it will enjoy it as much as I have.
The
bus is sold as is, $2, 000 deposit via PayPal due within 24 hours and non-refundable, full payment due within 7 days. Payment must be made via wire transfer, cash in
person, check (upon clearing)... wire is easiest and therefore preferred.
Shipping cost is buyer's responsibility. Willing to work with shipping company
to help coordinate pickup. Bus is for sale locally as well and therefore I
reserve right to end the auction early, unless of course you use Buy It Now, which
is priced to sell at $22, 000. Buy it now tends to disappear as soon as
someone bids, so if you would like to make me an offer and do not see the Buy
it now option just shoot me a message.
