The Juniors were never officially imported into the United States. Their excellent handling, revvy 1.6 liter engines and 5-speed manual transmissions make them great fun to drive. This car gets a lot of looks and is a very rare bird in the U.S. and very scarce in Europe too. I have driven this car to the Best of France and Italy car show in Van Nuys, CA and amongst the hundreds of other Alfas it was the only one of it's kind any Alfa enthusiast had seen.
According to the Alfa Romeo Centro Documentazione, “the chassis number AR2200089 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior (115.03), manufactured on the 18th June 1973 and sold on the 19th June 1973 in Switzerland.The 1600 Juniors came with twin Weber carbs and the smaller Carello taillamps of the early cars. This car has Webers rather than the SPICA injection of the GTV. The car starts, runs and drives very well. The car has zero rust and was said to have never been driven in rain during the previous ownership. The interior is Maremma wild boar tex interior. The previous owner fitted a harness bar/body stiffening crossmember running from either side of the rear seat side panels. Willans shoulder harnesses are a nice addition, and carpets, door trim, headliner and rear parcel shelf all present very nicely. New original 3-point seat belts will be provided to the new owner should they choose to go back to stock instead of the harness bar. The trunk is super clean complete with factory jack, rubber floor cover and spare. Over all the car is a turnkey fun reliable driver without any issues.
