I am offering for sale, my 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider in Avorio (Ivory) with burgundy interior.
I purchased this car two years ago to use for the Targa California rally. The car was stored for many years by the previous owner in a Downtown Los Angeles warehouse. It was very dusty, but in running condition. I had only two weeks to prepare the car, so I had to move quickly. We replaced all of the suspension rubber, new Koni red shocks, replaced the water pump, cored the radiator, plugs, points, wires, and anything else that could possibly ruin the trip. As soon as we had everything checked out and in good running order, we took the seats to the upholstery shop and sent the car to the paint shop. The original Campagnolo Turbina wheels were sandblasted and powder coated, including the spare. Five new Pirelli P4 tires in 185/70-14 mounted and installed on the car. The car was painted and reassembled with new rubber door seals, window felts and new door handles, the day before the rally. We completed over 1000 miles without any problems. Well not completely true. Actually, the right front brake caliper was sticking and caused the brake pad to wear out unevenly. When we got back, we replaced all of the brake calipers with a set of re-built calipers from Gold Line Brakes and new pads.
A few months ago, the stitching on the convertible top started to fail, so a new top was installed.
The car was used sparingly for Sunday outings and then again for the 2015 Targa California. 2500 miles in total. My collection of vintage cars currently exceeds my garage space, so I have decided to let this one go.
The car is a rust free original blue plate California car. The car was produced by the factory with Spica fuel injection. The previous owner had the car converted to dual Weber DCOE 40 carberators as supplied by CenterLine Alfa. I did not like the aftermarket air cleaners, so I sourced a European market air intake, giving the under hood a factory look. The rockers are clean, straight and rust free. The car retains the original rubber floor mats. There is some visible surface rust under the floor mats as might be expected with a 42 year old Italian convertible. I have intended to pull the seats, clean the floors, apply a coat of POR-15, add some DynaMat and put the mats and seats back in. Unfortunately, I have not found the time to do this.
