PERFECT HOT ROD FOR THOSE SEEKING SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. AMC ENTHUSIASTS WILL ALSO APPRECIATE THIS STREET MACHINE. THIS UNIQUE CLASSIC WILL DEFINITELY STAND OUT IN A CROWD. 1974 AMC HORNET MODIFIED STREET MACHINE/PRO STREET. THE HORNET WAS A VITAL COMPONENT TO THE SURVIVAL OF AMC IN THE ’70’S. LOOKED UPON BY THE MAJORITY OF BUYERS AS AN EVERY DAY, BASE TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE. HOWEVER, SOON GEAR HEADS AND HOT RODDERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY REALIZED THE POTENTIAL OF THESE QUIRKY CARS AS STREET MACHINES AND DRAG CARS. THIS MELLOW YELLOW CLASSIC IS REALLY THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. AS AN EX PRO STREET DRAG CAR, IT HAS THE BODY MODIFICATIONS AND SUSPENSION FOR RACING. HOWEVER, THE ENGINE CURRENTLY INSTALLED IS A LESS AGGRESSIVE, STREET FRIENDLY CRATE ENGINE. YOU CAN GO CRUISING JUST THE WAY THE CAR IS SET UP. IF YOU CHOOSE TO GO A MORE RADICAL ROUTE, UPGRADE CURRENT ENGINE OR DROP IN A RACE ENGINE. AT THIS PRICE POINT, YOUR POSSIBLE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS.
The AMC Hornet is a compact automobile that was manufactured by American Motors from 1970-1977. However, this platform actually served the company for eighteen years, until 1988. The Hornet was the basis for the Gremlin, Concord, Spirit, and even the all wheel drive Eagle. It would outlast all other compact platforms from the competition, including Chevrolet Nova, Ford Maverick, and Plymouth Valiant.
Development of the Hornet took AMC three years, a million man hours, and $40 million. The Hornet was a complete new design, sharing no major body components, but utilizing some of the Rambler American chassis and drive train.
The Hornet was significant in that it marked the return of the AMC to its’ original role as a niche marketer specializing in small cars. The Hornet also became one of AMC’s best sellers.
In 1971, AMC even manufactured 784 Hornet SC/360 coupes, an excellent entry into the muscle car market.
The Gear Heads started to gravitate towards this different looking vehicle. Actually, gross vehicle weight and weight transfer possibilities exposed the Hornet as a great little car to upgrade. Hence, the modifications began.
This is one of those modified vehicles.

It was recently on eBay for 129k and has apparently sold.
We sold this car in 1999, we found it, researched it, documented it, restored it.

Another example, we brokered the only 1968 Camaro Z-28 Convertible in July 1993 for 165K, it sold in 2002 for over 7 figures. These are just a couple of examples of the thousands of cars we have sold, and many were super investments. We know the rare muscle car market like no one on the planet.
This AMC Hornet is a rare Vintage Classic Car that fits into this category of an investment and enjoyment vehicle. Get in on the ground floor and have a big smile down the road.
