After sitting in storage for several years, the car was towed (not started at all) to Helmut's Foreign Car Service in Milford, CT where they went through everything including a fuel system siphon/flush. They replaced the fuel pump, fuel lines, air intake boot and ran the car. They inspected the mechanical condition of the entire car for any wear items that needed to be replaced. I have their full written assessment. In addition, I replaced the brake pads and machined the rotors as recommended by Helmuts. I also fixed a small coolant leak at the bottom radiator hose. The car has a brand new battery which is specific to this model with a $150.00 value.
A few (2 or 3) small dents less than the size of a quarter can easily be pulled by a specialty shop like the Dent Dr. with no paintwork needed. The driver's seat has a split for roughly 3 in the base cushion seam. The leather is not cracked or torn, it is only in the stitching. Not noticeable and also easily repaired. No rust. The dash is not cracked . The spare tire has never been used. The Michelin TRX tires were brand new with less than 500 miles and were removed when the car was put in storage so they are still like new.
The car currently has a period correct K&N cold air intake on it but the original airbox is included. There is a also a brand new sunroof wind deflector from Barvarian Autosport that was never installed. The car has a fitted cover. The radio is an aftermarket Alpine unit with a 6 disc CD changer professionally installed in the trunk. The original BMW factory radio is included with the car.
