Up for sale is a 1997 BMW 740iL, 4.4L automatic transmission with 84094 original miles. The exterior color is Champagne Gun Metal Grey and the leather interior is Black. As you can see from the pictures, there are no rips or tears in any of the seats. The Driver's seat is beginning to wear in the middle. It has power everything, seat preferences memory, ABS all-wheel disc brakes, and traction selection control. I have replaced everything in the cooling system as the water pump blew a couple of years ago (new fan, radiator, coolant, water pump and associated gaskets and belts). The air conditioning unit is very good and the compressor is still very operative. I placed Brembo slotted and drilled discs and ceramic brake pads on this car several years ago but because I hardly drive it, the brakes are in new condition. The suspension is all new except for the struts. This includes new wheel sensors, torque struts, and stabilizer bars. There are four new Michelin radials on the car that still have the stickers on them. The valve cover gaskets have been replaced as has the headlight assemblies that are brand new. The valve covers have been powder coated black (see pictures). The engine oil is synthetic. The shocks on both hoods are new. The battery is brand new. This car is equipped with a sun roof and a very nice Bose sound system.
Now for the bad news. The things that need replaced: The windshield (large crack on passenger side) and the internal sun visor that BMW attaches to the inside; Someone backed into the front at a Lowes and cracked the fascia behind the front license plate- a gentle tap that caused no major damage); The Electronic Control Module that operates the ABS, speedometer, and gas mileage calculator systems (you can drive the car but you won't know how fast you are going and you won't have ABS brakes but you will be able to stop-brakes do work just not ABS); There is still two significant oil leaks and I suspect it is the oil pan gasket as it is the only gasket under the hood that has not been replaced; The read-out of the radio and sound system has pixelation problems (missing pixels-the sound systems do function and the Bose system is excellent but the read-out at the dash is pixelated); and the transmission needs its periodic flush and maintenance check. It runs fine now but I routinely had it serviced. Also, the window tinting on the back window is beginning to have some bubbles. Other than this, the car is good shape.
I am selling this car because I am getting lighter for 2015. I am planning on moving in February 2016 so I just don't have the time or money to complete the rest of the repairs and I don't drive the car that much to justify owning it any longer.
