1940 Buick COUPE CONVERTIBLE GM

Buick COUPE CONVERTIBLE GM (1940)
for sale

Price: US $31,000.00

Description:

**1940 Buick::::::Two owners in 75 years. No holes in floors, trunk, or rockers.
**1940 BUICK: Starts, accelerates, & shifts quietly. Still starts with gas pedal push & has the original old fashioned 6 volt battery. Starting is so easy the 6 volts doesn't seem to strain. Unlike the 53 Packard I have for sale that starts in 3 seconds, this Buick takes at least 5 seconds to start; cold or running temperature.
**Body & Paint: solid body metals with very little repair, if any. Splash fender areas & wells are rust free. The paint is original. This Buick is for the owner that appreciates & sees patina as a plus with maybe a repaint in the future. Driver's roll up window glass has a crack, but is firm & not unpleasing, still water tight, winds flawlessly, no visual blocks, so no need to change any time soon. Glass is available on Ebay. All other glass is perfect. Windows roll up/down great. All chromes (door window surround frames, etcetera) are Nice. Doors close nicely with hardly any effort & have good alignments with NO drops. And, they lock. No rust bottoms or skins.
**Interior & top: ALL recently NEW. Looks to have been a power top, but long time ago (switch under dash not hooked up; hand operation is the NOW method). Top clamps nicely with very little effort.
**Engine: the straight eight overhead original motor. Smooth operation, no oil smoke, not overheat & no valve tapping
**Stability: Stays fairly true on road with minimal steering wheel play (acceptable & better than most I've known). Had recent new brake work (stop on a dime thing). .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .
**Transmission: manual column shift seems to be flawless. No clutch slippage, noise, or kinking.
**Gauges: That are working-gas, charge, oil pressure, temperature. Not work: rear directional lights, horn (horn relay is unplugged & beeps when that terminal is connected). Speedometer works, but seems half scale). Heater is hooked up. Not sure about blower motor(checking/troubleshooting).
**The manual open Air intake vent does open from inside car (for the air conditioning of 1940 & it really makes a difference in HOT Florida with all vent/ windows-cowl vent OPEN). The emergency brake does work.
**Comes with two sets of tires; original rims/beauty rings & the spoke rims/knock offs as seen on the car. An original 1940 era Buick radio (bench test lights it up, but thats with my an old/not sure if good 6v garage test battery) is also included with many small over the years parts. And, Dual spotlights. It has the NEW top boot, but also has the original boot (kept for posterity). These cars Never go out of style. Call for a BUICK experience & possible price negotiation speculation, 904-881-3495.
**I have many more pictures of various parts, etc. I can remove items from the trunk if further examination is needed. The horn works, but the button voltage feed will have to be cleaned or troubleshooter ( I have it disconnected from horn relay so it won't drain battery). There are no other electrical problems. Battery otherwise stays stable. Generator works (tested by removing a battery cable while running (stayed running).
**$500 non-refundable deposit in 24 hours. Balance due in 7 days. As is sale. Buy a hardtop model, or this COUPE CONVERTIBLE FOR SLIGHTLY MORE (or maybe less). There's a reason convertibles are almost always higher value (always more preferred). Then add coupe convertible -steps it up another knotch.
**No matter what type of personality eventually owns this car, after just several cruise drives on an early morning or sunset, the owner will have no doubt it was a good decision to purchase (especially if you channel your favorite iphone music into amplified Bluetooth speakers for the combo antique/modern mood/ viva glass of wine). A lot of ships were still sitting in Pearl Harbor & many lives looking forward when this drove off the dealership lot, NEW.
**Some history: A two owner car, not counting me. The previous second owner had it over 10 years (purchased it from the original {bought NEW} owner's son named *Sonny*) & was stored in second owner's construction equipment warehouse. Always stored indoors in its 75 years.
**RECENT NEW WORK & OTHER PARTS:::::* ** ***NEW B.F. GOODRICH TIRES. * ** ** *NEW master cylinder, brake lines, brakes, front stabilizer cushion rods, tie rod ends, clutch & parts; resurfaced flywheel also. And, the second owner tells me the transmission was rebuilt. Suspension freshly greased where a grease fittings exists.
**I would not hesitate to drive this, or any of the other 2 vehicles, for a long road trip. Comes with no warranty accept that it will maintain a value to far out weigh most other toy.
