Price: US $4,000.00
I'm listing my personal 1963 Buick Riviera that I have been working on for the past five years. I purchased this vehicle in Stratford Connecticut from a gentleman that was closing down his garage and was selling off several cars that were in his lot. The gentleman told me it belonged to his wife, but they were selling everything off. In the overgrown and abandoned lot sat several older cars. There was a 70's Camaro, 70's T-Bird, Monte Carlo etc. In the corner of my eye I saw this tanish gold car with and elongated front end that didn't have a post and had a very interesting interior seating setup. The car didn't start, but everything was there. I was hooked and paid the cold hard $1, 200.00 for it!
I towed it home, hooked up a battery, checked fluids and sprayed the 4 barrel carb. It started, but the radiator leaked and it wasn't road worthy to my standards. I wanted an everyday, drive anywhere car. Everything would have to be rebuilt. I took it all apart and then noticed that the floors and trunk were non existent (never buy a car sitting in 3 feet of weeds again). So the following is a list of things that were updated, rebuilt, eliminated etc. . $1, 200 + thousands of dollars later!
The reserve is very low $$$$$$$ for a custom painted classic car with the following updates (Over 8K in paint alone)!!!!!!!!! My desire for a different project is your gain. I would rather have the money to get a new project now then wait until the right buyer with a lot of money comes around. I figured if the car on Ebay and it went out of state I wouldn't see it around town!
*The factory original 401 Nailhead was rebuilt with a mild cam. There is probably two (2) miles on the rebuilt drivetrain!
*The original Dynaflow 2 speed transmission was rebuilt.
*The floors and trunk were replaced.
*The door handles, emblems and body trim were eliminated.
*The hood was louvered and looks awesome with the flame tips leading your eyes to them. *New true dual exhaust with Cherry Bomb mufflers were installed, but the finishing pipe was not installed because the bumpers were not on at the time. Obviously, the loose exhaust pipes rattle a bit. I will try to finish the exhaust before the auction closes. If you text me I can send you a short video of the engine idling.
*New gas tank with new lines installed.
Amazing color combination that set this car apart from anything else. Exterior flows with the interior flawlessly. The car was painted a smooth thick black and they added all the Tangelo flake flame work throughout the entire vehicle. Then they outlined the flames in white to later match the new white interior. They also added some lace work on the side panels and roof top to flow with the concept. The car is completely covered in cali-style flames. The car can be seen a mile away and there isn't any other other car out here like it. If you don't like attention please browse through the new average Joe car section of Ebay, maybe starting with Dodge Caravans!
A new white headliner and the all new white vinyl interior was installed (everything was ordered from OPGI). New door panels (front and back) were installed. I did save the original wood panels and trim incase the new owner wanted to reinstall them later. A new white Mooneyes steering wheel was installed. The center console was painted black to compliment the new black rug. I blacked out the entire dash leaving only the factory trim pieces in the original look (the trim was not rechromed just buffed with a steel 000 wool pad). The front seatbelts were installed, but the rear lap belts were not in stock.
The car sits 3 inches lower with the fresh Jamco lowering kit, which consists of shorter coils and shocks all around.
The brand new blacked out 15 inch American Racing rims and new thin whitewall tires compliment the car nicely. Simple, clean and they don't grab any attention away from the extensive custom paintjob.
I try to start the car and drive it around my local streets just like it is and the car drives very good. I work on my car on the weekends trying to shorten my need to do list. I was just happy to have it at home, wife wasn't!
If you are seriously interested please feel free to contact me for updates on the progress and I will send you photographs too.
The new windshield is on order. The rear window was installed over the weekend. The front windshield will be installed as soon as I receive the rear molding clips from Pennsylvania. I will have the front windshield installed before the car is delivered. All the other factory glass is in good working order. Connecticut is a NO TITLE state for classics. I did not register the vehicle, I will sell it with a Bill of Sale that will contain all my pertinent information.
Bad points at this time:
-No weatherstripping installed or included. Rubber gasket on the front small vent windows is brittle.
-Factory radio is in the dash, but not hooked up and I do not know if it functions. No factory speakers. I was not interested in music at this time! I eliminated the factory antennae too.
-Needs front end alignment with the new wheels and tires. During braking the car shifts to the left a little.
-The trunk is bare, no spare and or anything else in there. I do have several original parts that I will throw in like the door wood panel with the molding for the front and rear (mentioned above). The original brown steering wheel will go too. I will also include the original drip rails with an all new felt kit (still in the box) for you to install.
-Some lights might not function at this time because either I have not updated the bulbs and or not connected them. The factory harnesses and fuse boxes are in place (no bird's nests).
-No door poppers at this time, so you have to manually open the doors from the inside. Imagine that. .. .. .. you actually have to do move your arms.
-The front grille and or bumpers were not rechromed, just getting painted with trim black. I will try to have the front headlight assembly installed before the auction closes if I get the time.
-Wipers arms are not installed. The wiper motor does run when you turn the wiper knob on the dash!
All the above can be installed and or updated with a little time and very little money (if I don't get a chance to). I have the tail pipes, I have the front end assembly. I have the bumpers, and I also have all new gaskets for the signal lights. Just received the brand new red lenses for the brake lights and the clear lenses for the front signal lights (large lenses that go in the front end side grilles).
I'm being honest by pointing out all the minor necessary details I can, obviously if you think it's too much work please do not bid and or complain later. I encourage everyone to inspect the vehicle in person, so nothing I described above is misconstrued. The car is located in Trumbull, Connecticut (approx. an hour from NYC). If you have any further questions (besides the reserve price) feel free to contact me on my personal cell phone (203)521-78 five eight. I work all different kinds of hours, so please leave a message and I will return your call as promptly as I can!
I want to move onto another project. I'm looking for an old school 40's-50's GM split window pickup that I can cruise around with and still use to get stuff for the house (at least that's what I'm telling my girl).
Again, you are bidding on a classic car with a custom paintjob, rebuilt drivetrain, and all new interior! Rivieras have some of the nicest body lines in the GM family and they are not very common. Been to about 15 car shows around the tri-state and I haven't seen one yet.
The buyer, YOU, are responsible for shipping. I will make time for your scheduled transportation pickup.
Please don't waste my time and the time of other interested parties by not coming through with this auction.
The car is sold as is, I have made some progress with the needed minor details. Please ask for pictures or a video to see what you are currently bidding on. The car is a little dirty sitting in my garage while I work on it, it can use a second buff. Look at the buy it now price, If everything was finished the car would be worth more. Put a little effort and flip it on your end. Winter is approaching in the northeast anyway. ....
Thanks for your time and interest
