Up for auction is a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12. Late production 1981 model, #5896. Gray interior, manual transmission.
Purchased the vehicle in 1999 and it was not driven after 1999. The previous owner commuted to work with it putting on highway miles. Did not have time or money for parts and systems in need of repair. Vehicle has been covered since. There will be major repairs necessary: brakes, tires, hoses, fuel system, interior-including headliner, sun visors and dash which is faded and has some cracks. The front end needs a crumple tube replacement, otherwise the body is in good condition. I am the 3rd owner and can document the previous two. The vehicle was painted black when I bought it. I had the paint removed by a body shop to restore it to its original stainless condition. Had been periodically running the engine, but a few years ago was unable to keep the engine running due to old gas in fuel tank. Did not have the means to get under the vehicle to replace it. Starting motor and engine will turn over, but engine will not run. Included is a new battery and a tail light electronics replacement kit with bulbs. This DeLorean is sold as is and will require significant restoration to get it back on the road.
