Description:

1956 Desoto Fireflite Convertible - a nut & bolt restored, #'s matching show car
This '56 Fireflite convertible has just had a complete nut and bolt frame-off restoration done to the highest standards. Arguably one of Virgil Exner’s best designs, it incorporates a generous helping of chrome and bright work both inside and out, is beautifully complemented by the car’s combination of Iridescent Plum and Black paint. A matching Black fabric soft top, wide Whitewall tires and chromed Kelsey Hayes wire wheels lend additional flair to the exterior presentation. Opulent brocade fabric lines the interior, which compliments the exterior paint scheme.
This rare example shows evidence of a good life, the external bright work shows well, the body panels are straight and the gaps are very nice. All chrome, stainless and other bright work is very nice and the interior has been completely restored to the level fitting the rest of the car. This car is a stunning example of 50's Motown perfection. It’s powered by its original 255 bhp, 330 cu. in. HEMI V-8 engine, Carter four-barrel carburetor, Powerflite pushbutton three-speed automatic transmission, coil-spring independent front suspension, semi-elliptic rear springs with a live axle, and hydraulic four-wheel drum brakes. The drive-train was completely rebuilt from top to bottom and has traveled less than 1, 500 miles since restoration.
This rare drop-top is optioned with power steering, power brakes, power convertible top, power windows, “Search Tune” radio and heater, dual rear-mount antennas, 4-way power seat and real Kelsey Hayes wire wheels. Nothing has been overlooked during the resto. A beautiful color combination of Plum and Black exterior paint that is flawless, the engine compartment and undercarriage are fully detailed.
This is a very dependable car that runs and drives as good as it looks and can be driven anywhere. One of just 1, 485 produced, this top of the line Fireflite is in impeccable condition. Prized by collectors everywhere. This is an investment grade 50's Desoto convertible that will very definitely appreciate over time. Even though Desoto closed its doors in 1960, the Fireflite has always been remembered as a high point in the company’s history, and as such, good examples are always in demand. Very few Fireflite convertibles are ever seen on the open market, and this car’s availability is an opportunity not to be missed – thanks for your interest!
