Ok so I have a 1940 desoto s-7. The car is in pretty descent shape. It has seen some restoration some of which i am not sure to what extent. When i bought the car the motor and trans was out of it. The Motor has been completly redone top to bottom and has all NOS Mopar parts in it. It has the original 3 speed column shift trans and a new clutch. The carburator has also been rebuilt and the engine starts and runs like a sewing machine. The radiator that is in the car right now is a aftermarket 3 core aluminum radiator, it is not for a desoto it is for a chrysler but works fine. I have a radiator for a 40 desoto that comes with the car but it needs to be taken to a radiator shop and be repaired. The car runs and drives good I have driven it work a couples times. It is still on its first oil change since being rebuilt. The motor and clutch have around 400 miles on them. I DO HOWEVER believe the motor is a 237 out a 1947 desoto. As far as the car body goes it is decently solid. Its not all rusted out and the frame is solid. I have found a few bondo spots on the body but nothing terribly bad. Some of the chrome on the car has been redone. It has about 3400.00 in re-chrome. I bought this car with the intentions of restoring it and I am falling on the age old story of I have a child and job that takes up to much time and money to do myself. This car would be great to put a little time into and drive the way it is or do a complete restoration on. Or make a hotrod out of it. Anyways thanks for looking.
