1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Right Hand Drive Mail Jeep
I recently left employment at the postal service and this was my delivery vehicle.
There is a broken hinge on the driver side door that needs to be welded. This causes the door to be very difficult to latch.
The outside handle is broken to open the rear hatch. I had a nylon rope connected to the inside panel to open it.
The wheel wells had a lot of rust when I bought the vehicle. I put sheet metal over them for inspection.
The ignition went out about a year ago so the mechanic installed a push button start. The key still has to be in the ignition for it to work.
A few days ago I could hear some clunking in the driver side rear wheel. This vehicle ran out of inspection on 7-15 so I asked the mechanic to check the clunking before inspecting it. He tells me the rear-end is getting bad and will need to be replaced soon. He found one at a junkyard for $100 and gave me a $300 estimate for labor on replacing it. He said there is also a spot in the frame that needs welded. I no longer work for the postal service and do not need a right hand drive vehicle so I decided not to spend the money for repairs.
The good points are that the engine runs great and the 4 wheel drive works.
