This is a rare right hand drive diesel powered defender. I purchased it from a private seller in the UK in 2008 and imported it into Canada in 2009 as a 15 year old vehicle. It is legally registered with Transport Canada, safety inspected by both Transport Canada and Quebec Province and plated in Quebec.In order to get the Quebec plate the lights were modified to conform to NA standards, including daytime running and a third brake light.Also had to add an interlock on the clutch to prevent the car from starting when the clutch is not depressed.The original speedometer / odometer from the vehicle failed and was replaced with an electronic version from a more recent defender.I had the engine rebuild; New pistons, bearings, head remachined, new valves, new fuel pump, new turbo charger and new oversized intercooler. The intercooler is an oversized performance version and the engine is tuned to provide about 140Hp.The transmission was rebuild.The original exhaust line rusted out and was replaced with a stainless steel high performance version.The outriggers, the rear member of the chassis, the fuel tank and the rear door were replaced and are brand new.I replaced the original stock seats with leather seats and installed rear seats for small children.This defender is equipped with heavy duty track rods, differential guards, fuel tank guard, galvanized steel rock sliders, a class 3 hitch receiver for towing, a heavy duty ARB front bumper with a winch.The undercarriage receives a yearly Ziebart rust proofing treatment for extra protection against corrosion.
The vehicle come with two sets of tires, BF goodrich mud terrains for summer driving and studded winter tires. With studded tires, high clearance and one of the best 4 wheel drive systems in the industry it is almost impossible to get stuck in snow or ice with this vehicle.
This vehicle has performed very well for me over the past 6 years and I am sad to part with it but as my family grows up it no longer meets our needs so now I am ready to pass it on the next owner.
