1999 Mercury Cougar. We've had this car from new (purchased in California). Generally the car is in good condition, a few small dings on the body work but nothing major, never been in an accident. Front of the hood is a bit rough because we had a bra on it for years. I threw some paint on it. Looks passable from 10 feet.
New tires about a year ago and recently replaced the power steering pump.
Leather seats, power windows and mirrors.
I replaced the motor a few years ago with one of similar mileage to the car after my son did not check the oil (hello rod knock!). It leaks a little oil around the pan but was working ok when I took the car off the road about a year ago.
The bad. It needs a new transmission. The current trans does function but it's not great.
About a year ago it decided it would not go into reverse, just forward (even when reverse was selected). Some time later it 'broke free' and will now go into reverse but you can feel it dropping in and out of reverse drive.
I really don't want to let it go and was going to put another trans in it but I've decided am getting too old to be climbing under cars anymore.
This car is suitable for spares or repair.
I've also got a HID headlight kit for it that I never installed and most of a case (11 quarts I think) of Ford Automatic transmission fluid for it that I will throw in 'for free'.
NOTE. ... I've driven it up the street, it will move under it's own power but I would NOT take it on the highway. It will really need to be towed.
