Up for action is this 1958 Mercury Park Lane 2 door hardtop coupe - a beautiful original 38, 000 mile car that just came out of 20 year storage. It spent all of its life in the dry Southwest. It has been refreshed where needed and is ready to be enjoyed and appreciated as if it were 1958 all over again.
This striking and well-optioned Park Lane is one of only 3, 158 coupes that were produced. It has the 430 cubic inch V8 with the dual range push button Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, radio, heater, two-tone paint, tinted glass, rare silver anodized scallop inserts, and tinted glass.
This Mercury Park Lane is in clean beautiful condition! It has a straight and solid rust-free dry western body, a stunning new paint job with clear coat in Shadow Rose pink and Tuxedo black. The stainless trim has been polished. Both bumpers front and rear have been rechromed and look great. Many of the chrome pieces are in beautiful condition with little to no pitting.
It has a beautiful mostly factory original and correct interior in black and light gray. The seats are just beautiful, the back seat back is original the others have been recovered in the correct new old stock factory cloth and vinyl. The door panels are in original condition as is the dash pad with just some shrinking and a split to the upper pad but the lower pads are still very nice. The original headliner is in great shape too. The glass is tinted and is good condition with no breaks or cracks.
Mechanically this ’58 Park Lane is a sound low mileage car. It runs strong and drives very well. The factory original engine just purrs, with no smoke or blow-by. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and operates as it should. All the components have been serviced or rebuilt to insure safe dependable driving; water pump, hoses, belts, starter, generator, carburetor, fuel pump, complete new brake system including rebuilt Bendix TreadleVac, new shocks and new suspension bushings where needed. This Mercury is just ready to cruise!
This is a beautiful, rare, striking and very low mileage Mercury Park Lane. It has a wonderful original patina about it, is blessed with an attractive color combination, is nicely optioned, and is an incredible example of Detroit’s golden age with spectacular space age styling. It would make a unique addition to any collection.
