The car runs absolutely great. No overheating or burning oil issues, always a California car, no rust issues. When the new clutch was installed in August 2014, an extensive service was performed by a reputable British car mechanic here in Sacramento. I have driven it less than 200 miles since. The electrical system works fine (except for the two items listed below) including turn signals, headlights, brake lights, dashboard lights, windshield wiper motor, interior light, heater motor. Window regulators work just fine.
This beauty, painted in original MGA Coupe marine blue, is basically in showroom condition, except for a few scratches in the paint job. Most of the new items/parts listed have been installed through the years, during the restoration process, so even though they were installed brand new, some were installed over 10 years ago, like the cooling system parts and the gas tank. However, most new items were installed recently, like the tires, wiring harness, clutch, and overall service on the engine. I have the documentation to attest to that, and will be provided to the winning bidder. I have spent easy over 30K on this restoration, not including the purchase price of the car when I first bought it 15 years ago, or the hundreds of labor hours spent in the restoration process. In any event, this beautiful classic MGA Coupe has not been driven more than 500 miles in the last 15 years. It is waiting to be driven, displayed and, above all, enjoyed! It is up to you whether you want to spend thousands of $ for a project MGA Coupe, and then spend $30K+ to restore it like I did, or buy a beautiful classic for less than half the money.
There are only two issues with this car. The speedometer and the horn do not work. The speedo was working fine before I replaced the wiring harness, but after the replacement, I never got it back to work, even though I replaced the speedometer cable. The horn beeps when hot wired, but not when I press the horn button on the dashboard. Because of health conditions, I can't work on these issues any longer.
I request the winning bidder a $500 payment via PayPal within three days of close of auction. The balance must be paid by bank wire transfer, cashier's check, or cash, within 5 business days. Any questions will be answered through eBay messaging. Buyer is responsible for pick up and all transportation charges/costs. The car will not be released until full payment has been made and secured.
Disclaimer: I have listed the car for sale alternatively, so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time before auction amount through eBay is is met.
