auction is for a barn find 1980 MGB roadster. It has under 30, 000 original miles and we have the clear New York State title in hand. This was the last production year for these venerable automobiles. This classic B has an exterior medium blue color and tan interior. Condition issues include, but are not limited to: rust along the beading separating the fenders from the body, the top is shot and the interior has many salvageable components but is in real need of serious restoration.
These generally reliable cars are a blast to drive and they are still very capable of keeping up with traffic! Parts aren't difficult to find and they are pretty easy to work on and maintain. This one will need lots of love, but with the low mileage it will make a nice car when all the work is completed. The water pump is shot and it was making a huge racket so we disconnected the drive belt before it came apart. A new, uninstalled, water pump will come with the car.
This bone stock example was just recently brought out of the barn after being off the road for many years. The owner got it running with a brand new 12 volt battery, a new fuel pump and some fresh fuel. We were actually able to fire it up and move it around. Most of the electronic stuff works, but it needs to really be sorted out to get it totally street worthy again.
In the majority the rest of the car is pretty solid. There is a spare wheel and tire in the trunk and we have the original air filter housing and plumbing. We didn't want to bog you down with pages of MGB history and information, considering that most of the enthusiasts looking at this listing will know much more about this vintage car than we do.
This car is currently registered and can be driven, but only for very short distances because it has no working water pump. It runs smoothly hitting on all four cylinders, shifts properly and comes to a halt when brake pedal pressure is applied. This MG fires right up and there is no smoke, noises, leaks or other gremlins. A new 12 volt battery was just installed. This car is 35 years old and does need lots of TLC, so please forgive us if we overlooked some of the other minor flaws.
As with all of our eBay Motors listings we try to let our high resolution photographs tell the story about the vehicles that we are selling. All of the pictures you see were just taken by us and we have shots from many angles including the exterior with top up and down, engine bay, trunk, full interior and undercarriage. If you study our images very carefully, you will see exactly what this little blue MGB is all about.
