MG MGB GT (1973)

Price: US $3,000.00
For your consideration, a California rust free 1973 MGB GT. It has been well cared for but now is in need of a new
place to call home. MGB GT's are one of the most enjoyable British classics to
own and drive, and this MG does not stray from that reputation.
This GT has very original autumn leaf interior which is in
ok condition. The driver and passengers seat are in need of new seat foams, but
the back seat is in excellent condition with no wear whatsoever. The interior lights do not work, and the headliner and dash show signs of wear, but
overall the interior is pretty decent and has been kept very original. The
radio works very nicely. The windows are all clear with no cracks or scratches.
The front and rear quarter light windows latch and unlatch properly, and the
driver and passenger windows roll up and down with ease. However, the window
wipers, washers, and heater fan are currently not working. The trunk opens and
closes properly and the trunk space is in excellent condition.
The orange exterior is not the prettiest I've seen, originally this car looks as though it was British racing green as evidenced from under the dash. The orange
paint that graces the exterior now is showing signs of wear, and this MG could
really benefit from a nice paint job. The chrome bumpers are in great condition
along with the chrome trim. The body of the car is nice and straight with only
some very minor body damage to the driver's side rear dog leg panel and the valance
beneath the front grille, but overall this MGB GT is very structurally solid
with very good fit and gap all around. This
car sits upon 4 Prime chrome wheels with a new spare rim (slightly scratched from being dropped)included in the sale.
The brake lights, indicators(do not self cancel), headlights high and low beam, sidelights, and horn are all in working order. All gauges are functioning
except for the temperature gauge, and the car shows good oil pressure. From
cold this GT starts up easily without the use of the choke. It runs a bit rough until it warms up. The engine compartment
is complete with a down draft progressive Weber carburetor which idles ok, but this car
could definitely do with a tune up. The steering is nice and tight and the
brake pedal is firm. The transmission is a four speed synchromesh gearbox which
seems to be in good condition as it shifts very easily into place without any
unwanted noise or vibration.
This is a great car for anyone looking to own an entry level classic British
car that runs and drives but may need some weekend warrior renovations. As always I would advise inspecting the car
in person if at all possible. Please also note that we reserve the right to end
this auction early should we receive an offer we can't refuse. Please call for
an appointment or with any questions you may have, (310)833-1525 Monday-Friday
