Selling a beautiful 1976 British Racing Green MGB. Overall this MGB is in great condition. Mechanically and cosmetically this car is very sound due to a lot of love, care and passion from previous owners.
Body is in great shape, no major dents or blemishes. Body was repainted in British Racing Green. Body is very straight. Frame looks good, but there appears to be some minor rust spot on passenger side on the frame near the rocker panel (see pics). Otherwise the frame appears very solid. Doors, hood and trunk do not appear to have any major rust spots. Rocker panels appear good. Floor pans and trunk pan are all very solid. Under carriage looks good and does not have any major rust spots. I believe it was also undercoated for rust prevention. Rubber bumpers are in good shape, but rear bumper has some marks. Also I believe these were the rubber bumpers feature before the USA changed the law on emissions and crash requirements, so they are lighter and more sleek. Later years of MGBs were detuned and not as fast.
Interior looks great. Bucket seats are in original vinyl (good if you get caught in a sun shower with the top down). Few small tears (seen in pictures). Otherwise seats are in great shape and grab your body when making those tight turns. Dash looks good with most of the gauges working fine. All electrics and lights seem to work great (except for horn needs to be installed). Radio works and sounds good. Door panels look good. Windows roll down with no issue. Convertible top in great shape, only one small tear in the rear. Also the top is very easy to fold down and attach, unlike some tops that have shrunk over the years. Tires are New and in great shape.
The 1.8L Inline 4 cylinder engine is in great shape. 4 Speed transmission shifts smoothly. Engine fires right up and purrs with a delightful sound. Engine pulls strong and clean. Clutch is in great shape. Engine shakes a bit, may need new engine mounts, but doesn't appear to have major issues in the performance from what I have experienced. Suspension is good. A real joy to drive. Odometer reads about 86, 390.
Truly a lovely piece of automotive history. One of the classic British sports cars of our time. This MGB is ready to be driven and loved all summer long. This car was maintained and cared for throughout ownership, however, I am not a mechanic. I have been as honest as possible, but if you are interested in the car, please feel free to come see it in person or have your mechanic check it out. It is a 40 year old car, so it is not right off the assembly line, but appears to be in great shape for its’ age. Please remember, placing a bid is agreeing to a contract set forth by eBay. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements, but we will be as helpful as possible. $500 deposit (via paypal) is due within 48 hours of auction closing. Remaining balance should be paid by cashier’s check, bank check, cash, or money wired to my bank account, within 7 days of auction closing. The car will not be released until funds are 100% cleared. Deposit is non-refundable. Good luck bidding
