This is a 1987 Mitsubishi Montero with 66, 934 original miles. It is accident-free, and was never used for off-road. I am the second owner, and purchased it in Pennsylvania and brought it back to Wisconsin. I used it as my daily driver, and it has started every day, even in the coldest Wisconsin winters! The four-wheel drive shifts in and out like it should, and it goes through deep snow easily! It has automatic-locking hubs, and they work as they should also. The automatic transmission shifts with no problems, and the engine runs well with no knocks or weird noises.
All gauges, lights, horn, windshield wipers, doors, switches, fans, heat, radio, etc. work.
Floor-board is solid with no rust holes.
Most of this vehicle still has the original parts it came with, plus the original paint job and graphics.
Here are the issues with this vehicle:
This vehicle was made with no air-conditioning installed, which wasn't a problem for a cooler climate. The heater works fantastic for cold weather though!!!
The front windshield had some chips, so I had it replaced. The other windows are fine, and open and close with no problems.
The two rear tires are new, but the two front tires are older, and will need to be replaced in the near future.
The brakes work okay, but the brake warning light has appeared on the dash, so the brakes need to be checked over.
I removed the muffler and tail pipe from the catalytic-converter back, because they started to go bad.
There is some rattling noise coming from the front-suspension whenever I drive over rough roads, so I suspect either ball-joints or the shocks went bad.
Some rust is appearing on the underneath/frame, and needs to be removed.
A rust spot started to appear near the back door entry, lower left corner, which I repaired.
These issues were not a big concern for me, as I was going to do a restoration on this Montero, and was going to disassemble it anyways and replace what needed to be replaced. I am however, in the process of re-locating for a new job, so I need to down-size!
The fuel pump is newly installed.
This vehicle has always been used by a non-smoker, including myself, so no strange odors!
The front seats show some wear, and the seams are starting to come loose a little on the driver's side.
I removed the rear seat for added cargo space in the back, which can hold a full-sized bicycle standing up! ( I no longer have the rear seat because I never used it ).
I replaced the front headlights with newer halogen lights, and all the turn signal bulbs and brake lights.
The radiator was flushed out two years ago, and a new thermostat installed.
