Oldsmobile Aurora (1998)
for sale
Price: US $2,500.00
Price: US $2,500.00
If you think you remember seeing this listing last year, you have a good memory!
Obviously, I'm not desparate to sell this car. If it does not sell this time around, the listing will expire, and I'll eventually re-list it when I get around to it...(especially when Ebay reminds me with an offer to restart the listing at no charge).
But don't sell yourself short- watching the listing only to then have someone else come in, make a bid, and win it out from under you uncontested.
This is a lengthy description. It's lengthy because I want clarity, it's not lengthy to confuse you. If
anything requires additional clarification, please let me know.

This is a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora. I bought it as new.
It has always been a California car, so there's no rust-through. It has never
left California, except for a few occasional trips to Las Vegas. CARFAX is correct- this is a single owner car.
The current mileage is approx 120, 302 miles. The mileage may change by small
amounts because it is still used for local commuting.
This car has the diamond-white tricoat paint. It also has the Bose Acoustimass
premium stereo. All 4 tires are either Z-rated or W-rated, in fantastic
condition. The 2 front tires were purchased in September 2015.
The paint's clear coat is dead. It has just now started to bubble, and it is
also checked throughout. As you can see, despite the dead clear coat, the
diamond white still shines well. There are 2 spots where the paint has started
bubbling. Each spot is about the size of a quarter.
The interior needs a good detailing. As I said, this car is used daily; it is
not a collector car that I bring out of an underground silo on the
weekends...nor do I toothbrush the crevices for dust every Sunday. The dash needs to be
pressed down with some double-stick tape. This is a non-smoking car...no smoke
odor. In fact, there is still the scent of leather from the seats as you enter the car. The
driver seat has the normal leather wrinkles in it caused naturally through use.
The car has never been involved in a collision; you can see how straight the
panels are.
Maintenance was done on time without fail, for example: oil changes, always
with 100% synthetic oil (Mobil 1), and always with AC-Delco filters. I used
AC-Delco/GM parts whenever at all possible...such as spark plugs, PCV, Delphi
ignition wires, even GM disk brake rotors (at a premium price). But sometimes, one
has no choice but to live with non-GM yet high-quality parts, like Gates belts
and hoses.
I do have a small supply of maintenance and replacement parts: air filters, brake pads, premium oil filters. These parts are ACDelco and are included, as I will have no further
use for them. Included also is the full set of official GM Oldsmobile shop
manuals, purchased from Helm, Inc. No greasy fingerprints on the books.
A phantom, sporadic, occasional CEL shows up and then disappears on its own. I
feel no degradation in performance whether it is on or off.
REASON FOR SELLING:
I bought a new car. I don't need 2 cars. I hate to let go of this collectible, legendary car, but regrettably, it is time to do so.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This car is not for sale to hyper-critical buyers. This car is sold
as-is.
More photos are available if you want to see them. The photos are in .PDF and
I will e-mail them to you.
Call me at
213-200-2138
. I will return your call in a few days. You can also send me e-mail. However, the car is located
in Los Angeles and I urge you to personally inspect the car and then make your
own final decision after your inspection. If you waive the right and my suggestion that you inspect the car before buying it, that's fine with me. (Suppose you are in Kansas City and you just want to buy the car and engage a car transport service. I have no problem with that. I will help make it happen by working with the transport agent that you've hired.)
I am selling the car with these advisories:
-with all present and future faults
-as-is
-where-is
-final sale
-no refunds
-no lawsuits
-no buyer's remorse
If you cannot or will not agree to this, then I refuse to sell the car to you.
For your safety and my safety, I will meet you in front of the nearby police station
for inspection of the car.
PAYMENT (if you are local and will be driving the car away personally):
Chase bank is one block away from the Los Angeles police station. Please bring
your cashier's check and meet me there. After the bank accepts the check, I
will turn over the keys and sign the final notice of transfer paperwork.
PAYMENT (if you are purchasing the car without inspecting it):
Send me a cashier's check by mail along with written instructions on who the car carrier is that you want me to release the vehicle to. I will deposit your check and after it clears, I will notify you to send the car carrier you've hired. For your protection (since it will be YOUR car after the check clears), I will only release it to the car carrier company you've indicated in your written instructions.
Note: I will have cancelled the insurance on the car. For your protection, before
you purchase it, you must inform your insurance company that you are thinking
about purchasing the car and you want to get valid coverage for it before you
drive it home or take possession of it (either personally or through your hired transport agent). You must bring an insurance document showing this car's VIN and
a valid driver license, or provide photocopy of these items by mail. There is a grace period with most insurance companies. You can tell them you want to insure this car because you are interested in buying it. If the sale does not complete, your insurance company will take it off your policy, usually at no cost because you already explained that MIGHT buy it and there never was a completed transaction.
As soon as I give you (or the car carrier) the keys, my financial and legal interest in the car
ceases. A notice of transfer will be immediately filed with California Dept of
Motor Vehicles recording this change.
I'm not a car salesman, but the vehicle dealership where I bought my new car
required these same items; so I am going to assume it must be prudent to require the statement
of sale terms, proof of insurance, and driver license.
