Opel GT’s were built 1968-73 by Germany’s General Motors division Opel and sold in the US through Buick dealers. The design was modeled after the C3 Corvette, right down to the instrument cluster. The flip-open hideaway headlights were operated by a manual lever and the drive-train of these cars is very simple, economical and sufficient. A 4 cylinder engine, with automatic or manual transmission, disc brakes in front & drums in the rear, no power steering or other options, made this a great entry level sports-car and gave the BMW and MG’s of their time a run for their money. For those of you old enough - Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 in the TV Show “Get Smart” drove one in several episodes.
This is a non-running project vehicle. For restoration, customizing or for parts if so desired. Though a nearly complete body with very little rust, everything here needs attention. Stock chrome bumpers, stock wheels and interior, factory radio, stock muffler, correct Solex carburetor & air filter set-up. The 1.9l engine turns by hand, transmission will engage in gears. It had some front end collision repair and has hail damage throughout. Floorboards, vents in the roof, frame-rails and tail-section are in good shape, with the factory rear edge trim still in place. Not sure about the mileage. Comes with some extra parts. It appears that the car spent time in Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon, before Arizona. Comes with paperwork for export or to get an Arizona title.
