I bought this car thinking it was for me - but it's just not. I'm just not as young as I thought I was (it's low and hard to get in & out of.) See eBay listing # 171663500007 for the car as I bought it a few months ago. The photo in this auction is how it looks now (with black stripes that say OPEL GT down both sides of the car.
Since that time I added a Brand New Weber Carb, electronic ignition, new plugs, wires, spare tire, stereo speakers, third brake light & LED bulbs all around (except for the two front side-markers - I didn't get to those.)
Classic, 1973 Opel GT
Original, matching numbers car with the 1900CC (1.9L) engine.
Interior: • All Original: Seats, Carpeting, Door Panels, Trim, Dash, Other Interior Pieces, Gauges, Knobs, etc. (except for New, updated seatbelt. ~ Original supplied.)• Carpet is worn in foot wells, seats have/need some repairs. • Original, black Head-liner is in very fine condition.• Dash is very good (very few cracks).• Original AM radio is NOT currently functioning.Included with sale of car:• Original, working Solex Carburetor (recently rebuilt.) • Owner's Manuals.• Maintenance Card.• Original Driver's Door Mirror.• New Brake Pads.• 1973 Color Brochure.• 1973 Buick/Opel Service Book.• Installed, New Stereo Speakers.Needs:• Weber compatible Air Filter (original Solex one supplied.)• Brake Booster & brake service.• Door seals & window rubbers could stand replacement too.• There is a 'wiper scar' on the passenger side of the windscreen. (Could be replaced, but it DOES Pass NYS Inspection anyway, so not necessary, except for cosmetic reasons - or if your state is different.) Mechanics:• Brand New Weber 32/36 DGEV Carburetor (about 100 miles on it.) • Engine, Transmission and Clutch are Strong.• Newer Radiator & Hoses.• Brand new Electronic Ignition, Distributor cap, Rotor, Plugs & Wires.• Steering and Suspension are Very Tight.• Headlights Rotate and Function Properly (with the required ‘new wiring’ to prevent electrical problems.)• Ignition Switch has been Supplemented with a Starter Button (as most Opels have had done.)Body:• All Original Body Panels ~ no aftermarket fiberglass replacement panels. (Bottom, front of car, under battery tray has been repaired with fiberglass.) New Paint about 2 years ago.• No Signs of any Accident Damage. (Minor rust in rocker panels, etc. has been repaired.)• No bad rust holes in Floors or on frame.• Original Opel Rims with original Center Caps & Trim rings.• New Tires, including the Spare tire on the original wheel with all the original Mounts, Original Jack and Tools. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~Car had been off the road since 1994 until a few months ago. Odometer reads less then 40, 2000 miles.Repairs were made as needed, while keeping the originality, in case you want to “restore it.” Please remember, although recent repairs were made as needed, this car was off the road for the past 20 years.~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~I have Over $8, 500ºº invested in it.
