You are viewing an excellent example of a true British
Classic.
First registered in England, July 1966, this Morris Minor
“Woody” is fast approaching her fiftieth birthday.
The car was shipped to the United States in 1996 and I
purchased it in the same year.
During the intervening nine years, I have spent countless
hours restoring her to excellent condition.
I could write a book detailing work done and parts replaced, so I will try to highlight major areas, in an attempt to provide a fair and
accurate description of the vehicles condition.
MECHANICAL
Engine and
gearbox stripped and repaired with approximately 2, 000 miles logged.
Cylinder head was fitted with hardened inserts and is fully
compatible with unleaded fuel.
All major components of the fuel and ignition system have
been replaced with new items.
New clutch and mechanical operating system replaced.
Master and all wheel cylinders replaced with new items.
BODY
Certainly not in “Pebble
Beach” condition but very acceptable for its year.
The car has taken first place in two local car shows so it
is not a major issue, however, if you wish to go to the expense, a re-spray may
be in order.
All wheels were sand blasted and subsequently powder coated.
Tires are U.K. sourced and have approximately 2, 000 miles logged.
Glass is original and in first class condition with
exception of windshield. A few small chips are evident together with some
scratches. Replacements are readily
available from the U.K. for around $250 plus shipping. Have not tried to source
locally..
WOODWORK
I
have replaced the sections at rear of doors, sills, window supports and supporting
structure for rear fenders. The
remainder was sanded and varnished. Aside
from a few areas that show small signs of decay, overall condition is very
good.
INTERIOR
The
front seats have been recovered, rear seat is original with one small rip.
Rear cargo area has been completely refurbished in original
material.
OVERALL
I
have a lot of documentation available detailing work done and also a fairly
comprehensive history of U.K. ownership. As best I can tell, she had three
previous owners in the U.K. and two in the U.S.
Mileage stands at 91, 820, which appears correct, but I cannot
substantiate with documentation.
I have tried, via a brief synopsis, to give any perspective
bidders an accurate description of this authentic RHD vehicles condition, but in view of the
cars age, I would recommend a personal inspection if at all possible. I would welcome
any questions you may have, either by e mail or phone at 910-528 4881.
