This buggy was originally built in the late 60's. It is an original Manx style Spoiler body, offered by Desert Fox and Sandwinder. I bought it in 2008. It was such a cool little buggy but needed some updating. I decided to tear it down and rebuild it as a street driven show car with a strong nod to wild 60's dune buggies and show rods. I wanted to try to use as much of the original build as possible, keeping the survivor feel and character that it had. I did not replace the pan, but did clean it up and paint it. The drive components, trans, and suspension have been gone through to make sure it is a turnkey runner, starts up every time, and is safe on the streets. The entire car was rewired with a new harness, fittings, fusebox. The body was the focus of the build, with a full metal flake finish(over a pound of flake) with candy teal panel work and custom hand lettering and pinstriping to top it all off. I removed the seats and body for a complete pearl white diamond tuck makeover, replacing the pan/body gasket with a brand new one upon reassembly. Also installed brand new windshield frame, glass, and rubber. For more details on the entire build you can go to my build thread on the Samba. Lot of progress pics and many details there. here
The Boulevard Buggy is an award winner and international magazine feature car, built for street and show. Won many “Best Paint” awards. Also won 1st In Class and “Promoter’s Choice” awards at Bugorama in Fontana. It's been featured in various publications including full editorials in Ultra VW Magazine, VW Speed, Gasoline Magazine, Kustom World. And possibly the coolest feature in the renowned Dune Buggy Handbook. This little Boulevard Buggy has garnered a lot of attention.
If you’re looking for a turnkey, one of a kind custom car that’s a blast to drive and turns heads wherever it goes…this is the one for you! All the hard work has been done on this buggy. It’s in great condition and runs great. Minor improvements would make this the perfect car. If I were to keep it, I'd maybe upgrade to a new dual master cylinder and upgrade the pedal assembly to one of those fancy rollers. :) The dash is purposefully minimal, but can be easily upgraded with more bells and whistles. Original bug speedo needle doesn't work, but the battery/ignition lights in the gauge are wired and work fine. The one thing that needs to be replaced is the e-brake handle. I never got around to doing it, but its never been a major issue for me. These are little details that do not affect the drivability or fun factor of this car and would be easy for a new owner.
This has been the coolest car to build, own, and drive. Definitely one of a kind. I have more invested than the asking price. But all reasonable offers will be considered.
The car is located in the Antelope Valley(Northern Los Angeles County). I'm willing to work with the buyer to ship anywhere, at buyer's expense of course. If you live in Southern California or Phoenix, AZ we can easily arrange personal delivery for a reasonable fee.
