Please DO NOT BID on this car if you do not intend to BUY this car. This is the second time I have had this car on eBay, only to be disappointed when a bidder does not follow through. If you have less than 10 positive feedbacks from eBay, or you have less than 98% positive feedback, please call me before bidding so I am sure you understand your commitment to follow through.
Up for auction, without a reserve, is a 1970 Plymouth
Barracuda project car. This car is a
perfect candidate for a 440 big block heart transplant, or clone to a hemi car, six pack car, or build a race car.
Some history on the car may be of help in understanding the
condition. Sometime in the 1990’s, the
previous owner bought three 1970 Barracudas as restoration projects for when he
retired. Prior to his planned retirement
he was injured and was restricted to very minor activities, so the Barracudas
had to be sold. The first two of his
Barracudas were quite nice cars and were sold quickly. This car, last of his three Barracuda was
somewhat of a parts car, had some front end damage, a non-running motor, and
was missing some parts.
As he observed the appreciating value of a 1970 Barracuda, he decided to try and find the missing parts for his last car. He hired a handyman relative to help him work
on the car but soon lost interest and it was parked in a shed in his back yard.
About a month ago he called me and asked if I was interested
in buying the car as-is. He had found a
few more parts (seats, steering column, tail lights etc). We installed his seats, steering column, and
tail lights, and did a major clean-up to the current condition. Some of the photos show a work in progress.
This is a very restorable car, but will need some metal work
and a lot of TLC. As I see it you will
need the Dutchman panel below the back window, the lower rear quarters, at
least the pan portion of the trunk floor, trunk extensions, header panel, and
at least the passenger front fender. It
appears the front and rear valances are repairable, and possibly the drivers side
front fender. The hood, roof, and doors
appear to be in very good condition. The
floor pans are very nice, and frame rails are solid. There are a couple of rust spots in the
windshield frame that will need to be repaired. The windshield is broken, and
the back glass is just setting in place to show completeness.
There are some obvious items missing. The grille and front valance insert, passenger side tail light bezel, complete interior, two marker lights, complete
drive train, some window moldings, and undoubtedly many others. I included a photo of the original header
panel and grille to show the extent of the original front end damage. The fender tag is missing, but I have the
factory build sheet (in pieces).
Most all of the missing or damaged pieces to completely
restore this car are readily available thanks to AMD and many other aftermarket
suppliers. A few years ago a car in this
condition might have been only usable as a parts car. But with all the
available parts all you basically need is a good quality rolling shell, which
this car is.
A 1970 or 1971 Cuda are about the top rung for collectible
Mopar muscle cars. It seems everyone is attracted
to a nicely done Cuda, even if it is a clone car. Ninety nine percent of people at a car show
don’t know the difference between a real car and a tribute car. It is common to see these cars sell for $65K
or above, with a very nice big block restoration.
You are welcome to view the car personally, or contact me
directly for more information. I can be
reached at (801) 910-6306. It will
obviously need to be trailered if you pick it up in person. I live near Provo, Utah just off interstate
highway I-15, zip code 84003. Look at
the photos carefully, call and ask any questions, but what you see is what you
get. The car needs a full and total
restoration. I have a newly updated
clear Utah title in my name.
By bidding on this auction, you agree to the terms as
outlined. Please only bid if you have the funds available to complete the
purchase. You are not bidding on an
“option to buy” but bidding to own. Perform your due diligence
before
you bid. A $500.00
deposit is to be paid via Pay Pal within 48 hours of the auction end, and the
balance paid by bank transfer, or cash
at
pick up. No tire kickers or trades
please!! This car is for sale locally, and has generated a fair amount interest. If you are interested in this Cuda project car, bid early.
